At 1730 GMT today I made contact with OE3GBB on 14236 digital voice
(WinDRM), marking my first transAtlantic digital voice QSO and only
my second DV QSO ever (the first being with a neighbour 100 metres
down the road!).
I'm not sure that I can count it as a QSO because conditions were
marginal

The characters are still coming through distorted. I see the occasional
couple of correct characters and the rest are corrupted. This is the
same with whatever program I use.

I bought it (it costs $39) and cannot get it to work with some digital
programs. They do not recognise the virtual connections as being
soundcards and I have not yet managed to set them

Just found another program that I can't find a way to get it to work
with VAC, this one is MMSSTV.
