only threat to ALE is AQC-ALE in my opinion and that's not at all
bad. However most Amateurs that are working with ALE have yet to

Perhaps the growth of ALE in ham radio has been slow until recently,
but we really don't see a serious ALE competitor out there, as in
VHS vs Betamax.
If we use the TV analogy, maybe ALE is more like a Tivo or DVR :)

With PC ALE, MARS ALE you can send messages in AMD (universal way), DTM and DBM
with a lot of options and possibilities.
In Multipsk you can send messages in AMD and ARQ FAE (and only receive DTM and
DBM messages).

familiar with this term but did a little web surfing and found a very
interesting document:
