Lately there has been a great deal of OLIVIA activity on 80M in the evenings, the other night I found 4 or 5 QSO's going on aty the same time using 500/16 Think you are right that these modes will become used a little more as the cycle changes. The great part about cycle are the number of

Bonnie One would also respectfully ask why the 24/7 Global Emcomm group would choose to run their system on a known MT63 frequency of long standing - I guess we all should keep in mind that no one group has any claim to ANY frequency and to expect QRM from others should be the norm Les VK2DSG

: on 14.109 USB all day (Q15X25) - please read about FEC .. Hi Les, It is 2009. Digital evolution moves on. MT63 had a few good years of activity in the late 1990s. It was a significant step in the evolution of digital texting modes. But, alas, the popularity of MT63 on 14109 kHz USB subsided

Respectfully, I question why a few operators would transmit an ALE sounding on top of a Q25 QSO without listening first. To call a few operators using ALE soundings on 14109.0 a global Emcomm Network is a bit of a stretch, We do share these frequencies 14109.0 is not busy to say the least.

Bonnie, I ran both on 14,109 till I starting seeing the QRM from ALE. I really think that is the reason that you or anyone else sees no MT63 there. I first started with ALE about 2002 or 2003 and gave up on it. And still today I still see no regard by ALE stations for a freq that may be in

I would be more inclined to say that it is the lack of propagation on the higher bands that has stopped the use of MT63 for DX work Olivia managed to hang on for some time longer due to its better S/NR characteristics BUT if you dont have propagation you dont have QSOs in any mode I would like to

The answer is very simple. It is a quiet part of the digital segment and it's free to use for all. LA5VNA Steinar expeditionradio wrote: Respectfully, I'm just curious why you would want to run such an experiment directly on top of an existing ham radio 24/7 global Emcomm network at
