In summary, the standards are probably not worth it for the
practicing usability specialists. Like all standards, they tend to
be high-level and lag slightly behind current practices.

I followed links this morning to learn a bit more about a newly released ISO
standard for usability: ISO 20282. I haven't read the standard itself yet
(stuff to do), just the brief commentaries. I'm interested to learn more
from some of the strong usability folks in this community:
