Re: [IxDA Discuss] Tools for animating the user experience

2009-03-12 Thread Ferran Alvarez
Hello.

Long time ago I used to do presentations with Macromedia Director
animating the pointer to show how the actions on a movie. Sometimes,
when talking about ATM with touch screens, we even changed the
pointer with a chrome-keyed hand. Later we did similar things with
Flash and recently we've tried to wireframe with Axure and RoboDemo
(now Adobe Captative).

Results were great and customers were very happy with the show, but
was not something to replace final wireframes because it was only a
visual show, not a strong conceptual document.

Bests,

Hi Luis,

Wiktionary (as well as Wikipedia all related sites) is based on MediaWiki
(http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki). It is open source and its
appearance is not hardcoded anywhere, if you have the necessary skills in
HTML/CSS you can probably re-skin just about everything.

Good luck,
Alex

Asunto: [IxDA Discuss] Ajax product configurator examples

I'm helping a friend who has a small business (total employees: 1, total
budget: $0 or maybe less) brainstorm ideas for a custom product configurator
for his website. Similar sites might allow you to see the clothes on a model
and change shirt colors, add various designs to a t-shirt, or customize your
new Mercedes colors, wheels, etc. He's curious to find out if this sort of
product configuration can be done well using Ajax/Web 2.0 technologies. He'd
like to avoid Flash if possible.

I've found these two examples so far:

Levolor store beta (pick a product and configure wall and window colors,
etc): http://www.levolor.com/store/
This was pretty fun to play with.

Zazzle t-shirt designs:
http://www.zazzle.com/cr/design/pt-shirt?style=basic_dark_tshirtcolor=black
Not quite as direct and interactive.

Can you guys think of other similar examples?

Even better, do you know of any existing free or affordable code libraries
that do something like this?

Thanks for your help,

Michael Micheletti

Re: [IxDA Discuss] Cultural variations in how consumers interact withhealthcare websites

Hello from Spain. The same happens here, the user sequence is something like
this:

a) go and have a quick the official product 'website'
b) search at google to see what other users are talking about athe product
c) contact the manufacturer through a website form

This is what I could experience from two projects for chemical and
healthcare-related companies, six and two years ago.

Asunto: [IxDA Discuss] Cultural variations in how consumers interact
withhealthcare websites

Hello all-

My company is trying to convince a client that there is tangible value in
doing research on the differences in how consumers in different parts of the
world interact with healthcare-related websites. For example, in the US
consumers often question the trustworthiness of a manufacturer's website
about its own products, but may place a lot of trust in an open forum of
other patients and consumers who are not doctors and are not required to
validate their opinions and observations. Is this true in other parts of
the world?

The countries I am specifically targeting are:

Korea

Japan

Germany

Spain

Italy

France

If anyone has or knows of any published research, that would be fantastic.
Even anecdotal observations from the global IxDA community are welcome.

Thanks in advance for your input.
