Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] FOSS4G 2009 Code sprint

code sprint. Another option to consider could be to start the sprint
on the day before the core conf. starts and then to provide a code
sprint space (we could have used the speaker prep room this year since
it was underutilised) and allow for ad hoc coding get togethers during
the conference. Of course having the sprint at the start of the conf
does have the negative of people being seriously jetlagged to begin
with(as opposed to being seriously hung over at the end...).

Hi Tim; this kind of defeats the purpose of having a code sprint - the
idea is that the developer communities are going to want to hack at some
point. By scheduling a code sprint at the end of the conference we can
avoid a repeat of 2006 where developers hung out on the tables (ignoring
the conference they had paid to attend).

By having a code sprint at the end; it is my hope that the developer
teams can get out there and meet people (yeah OSGeo) and have a weeks
worth of good ideas and contact with other projects heading into the
code sprint.

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] Questions about CS-Map, ArcSDE 9.3, buffer operations

2008-10-15 Thread surrounded

RESOLVED 2 and 3:

#2) I saw a post that indicated FDO 3.4 to be released (I believe) in Nov or
Dec 2008 will support ArcSDE 9.3.

#3) I used FWTools for the buffering functionality and then just converted
the geometry back to OSGeo.FDO geometry type.

REGARDING MY QUESTION ABOUT PROJECTIONS:
I can use FWTools to do this also, but as of yet have not fully explored
this.

[OSGeo-Discuss] Re: Who Will Attend AAG

2008-10-15 Thread Brian Hamlin

Tyler, All-

I was pleased to man the OSGeo booth at OSCon 2008 under the
competent direction of David Percy. I was able to go to that one on my
own dime due to circumstances. I am also fine with doing booth and/or
talk at AAG, if it is revenue neutral for me.. in other words, ride
share and some kind of place to stay.

I suppose at AAG there would be a lot of interest in resources for
Educators, but I dont know.

In terms of messaging, the "news" of an OSS stack, interoperable data
standards, and other practical developments to me seem the most
important to get across..

  best regards
   -Brian
