Please make sure MapServer team mebers are aware of open twitter
alternatives, to let people follow them using standard based agents.

One modern such alternative: https://mastodon.social/
see https://mastodon.social/tags/gis for a federated tag search
and https://mastodon.social/@Gargron for an example profile

NOTE: anyone can setup a node in the federation, and it is compatible
with the somewhat older GNUSocial protocol.

Thanks Sandro, I'll experiment and do as you say.

Cheers from FOSS4G-Paris.

[OSGeo-Discuss] osgeo beta-website and project details requested

2017-07-22 Thread Jody Garnett
An update from the foss4ge code sprint Nicolas Roelandt and myself have
been working on the osgeo website.

But first here is a link (three days old) to the beta-website:
http://osgeo.getinteractive.nl

This shows the first couple pages as the wireframes and visual design come
together; and will become more complete as content is migrated from our
website; and new content is filled in from documents and forms:

Like this one for projects:

 Software Projects

And this one for service providers:

 Service Providers

Or the list of partners and friends the board has been working on:

 Partner Content and Logos

If you cannot stand google forms I understand - we will have the ability to
edit the beta-website when it is hooked up to our OSGeo LDAP service.

The beta-website is used to play test the website, trying out the user
experience of navigating, finding and understanding information. While
there are only a few pages now, check back each day and you can watch this
project finally starting to come together.

The MapServer team here has created a new twitter account for updates
from the MapServer project: please share!
https://twitter.com/mapserver_osgeo

(this is from overwhelming feedback at FOSS4G this week from the
community, for more public updates from the project)

Thanks!
