Nick would be a great asset to the OSGeo board and his special talents

Dear All,

Maxi has been an active member of OSGeo foundation
and served the community well in various capacities.
He has also help to spread the spirit of FOSS4G the
worldover and I had several occasions to interact
with him at conferences and workshops in Asia and Europe.
About the Technology side story, Gérald Fenoy already introduced enough for his

I strongly support Maxi's nomination for re-election as

Dear Cro,

Hello OSGeo community,
I would like to nominate Massimiliano Cannata aka "Maxi" from Switzerland
as board member.

Maxi is the leader of the geomatic division from the institute of Earth
Sciences SUPSI. I had the pleasure of working with Maxi on the OSGeo board
and greatly admire his dedication to the OSGeo community, logical approach
and a keen knack of getting things done. He is deeply involved in OSGeo and
FOSS4G at various level and is always willing to help and provide his
relevant input on so many different topics, which sounds very important for
a board member. He has proved his dedication to OSGeo during his term by
being always constructive in the discussion and taking part of various
committees, such as the United Nations committee for which he is now the
co-chair. He is also involved in various projects at various level, the
first which come to my mind is the istSOS project that he is leading with
his team and his growing community, a workshop for istSOS is handled every
year for at least 3 years during the FOSS4G. He is also involved in the
ZOO-Project PSC since 2010 and was in the GRASS PSC from 2006 to 2016. His
amazing knowledge about how things works in OSGeo or should work for the
better, his dedication and his capability to work and discuss openly with
different kind of people prove that he is a real asset for the OSGeo board.

His personal OSGeo wiki page can be found here [1]

Indeed i think that Venka is right.
OSGeo-live may let people think that all the software inside is part of the
OSGeo projects. FOSS4G-live is more correct and clear in this sense.

Regarding the name of the conference i have already expressed my view
(unfortunately not considered): the important is to define rules that
guarantees equity, openess, transparence and that clerly says that foss4g
is the OSGeo AGM.

It is our pleasure to nominate Venka Raghavan
(http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Venkatesh_Raghavan), from Japan, for the
OSGeo Board. It is hard to put into (few) words, Venka's influence on
FOSS and geo. The 2012 winner of the Sol Katz Award, he created the
term “FOSS4G” back in 2004, using it as the name of an international
event in Thailand, and since then he has promoted FOSS4G all over the
globe. He was also one of the organizers of the recent FOSS4G-Asia
event this past December.

Venka has also been directly involved in OSGeo since its inception, in
fact he was on the first OSGeo Board of Directors from 2006 to 2007. He
is also a long-time board member of the OSGeo Japan chapter.

A professor at Osaka City University in Japan, Venka constantly
encourages his students to leverage FOSS4G in all of their research.
His influence in Asia wide reaching, being easily the most influential
FOSS4G leader there. Venka also helps organize the GIS-IDEAS Symposium
every 2 years in Vietnam, which is always FOSS4G-based.

Venka is enthused to be a part of the OSGeo Board again, helping a
foundation that he helped form at the beginning. We could not be more
please and honoured to nominate Venka for the Board of Directors.

It is our pleasure to nominate Anita Graser

OSGeo Board. Anita needs no introduction to the community, as she is
very visible through her work on the QGIS Steering Committee, as a core
contributor, and working very hard to promote Open Source geo through
workshops, tutorials, mailing lists, FOSS4G events, and just about every
possible way. She has a lot of experience managing and building
communities, and she is actually quite honoured to be considered for the
OSGeo Board.

Anita's presence on the Board would be a great addition to the foundation.

We excitingly nominate Anita for the OSGeo Board of Directors.

Even if I am not a charter member, I would like to second the nomination
of Andrea.
Probably the most famous project he is developing is Geopaparazzi, but I
would like to remember that he also did some important development of
scientific tools. Andrea is the main developer of JGrasstools (
http://moovida.github.io/jgrasstools/) a library of scientific modules
for environmental analysis and NetTools (
https://bitbucket.org/moovida/nettools/wiki/Home) a set of tools for
water management in urban areas.
He is now working on the development of tools for LiDAR analysis that will
be integrated in JGrassTools.

+1 for me

I also second this nomination.
I'm working with Silvia every day and know she is keen to open source
software, particularly when it comes to developing countries.

She has contributed a lot to the uDig, JGrasstools and Geopaparazzi
project.

Even if she sometimes wears the developer clothes to do environmental
modelling, I think her greatest skills are in project planning and
coordination (apart of being a GIS super power user), which makes her
in my opinion a good asset for the Osgeo community.

It is my pleasure to nominate Sittichai Choosumrong (known as Bomp) for
an OSGeo Charter Member. I have known Bomp for many years now, and have
worked with him in Japan while he was doing his graduate schooling under
Venka-sensei. Bomp regularly gives workshops and talks on various OSGeo
projects, and his youthful enthusiasm rubs off on students. He is now a
researcher at Naresuan University in his beloved home country of
Thailand, where I am sure he will continue to promote OSGeo. He has
worked very hard to promote OSGeo and I want to thank him for this.
