As the bug's subject is misleading I might open a new one.

I've just checked in subversion change 3367, which should fix this issue.

If so it may already be running as a service.
What happens if you enter http://localhost:9000 in your web browser?

Thanks for the quick replies. I tried restarting, but
And if it isn't, you can just start another instance of the MM exe (make
sure you use the same user, if you have the service running as a
different one to your logon), enable the API, close MM, and then restart
the MM service (you might need to explicitly restart the SS service too,

Playing songs from a mounted iPod should certainly work but my
experience with 6.0 is you can't play files without adding them to the

It would always be possible to use something like Nicecast (on a Mac

I believe that if you add a Windows shortcut (assuming a Windows server)
for the mounted drive to the Slim Server music directory, you can use
the Browse Music Folder feature to traverse into it an play the music.
It shouldn't require addition of the music to the database to handle this.

Hi,
You can use a product called ProntoLite to learn and emulate the remote
control - I think it's payware but I don't think it's killer expensive.
Be warned though - the infrared on most palms is low power and you might
have to be quite close. You won't get the display with this method
I just recently moved my SlimServer from my Mac to my Windows box. Well
I installed server on the windows box, and dragged the music folder
(from iTunes) music over.
Any one know of a clever way to get my play lists over as well, either
the iTunes ones, or the SlimServer ones, or both.

Jim,
You might try raising the Radio Station Timeout setting (Server

Possibly in 5.4 but not in 6.0
I just tried it, and playing the track adds it to the database.
Makes sense because all SlimServer's work is done via the database now.

Just wondering whether or not this is really much of an issue.

It's probably not a problem (as well as being unavoidable at this point)

In fact the track did disappear after I deleted it, the 2nd time I

Background database maintenance is a future enhancement I believe?
The database goes through a complete garbage collection phase in the 6.1 tree
after a rescan.

The FreeBSD port is current right now, at 6.0.2. I'm running it on my

Sorry for the somewhat crass subject line, but that's really the best
way to describe this.
As it says, I'm getting an intermittent fart noise through my setup,
which is SB2 line out to a pair of inexpensive Boston computer
speakers.
The thing is, the noise sometimes happens even when there's
