I have a similar problem. A couple of hours ago the album art was there
and now, poof, a three or four disappeared. It seems there are two
types of placeholders, at least in Fishbone: the contour of the ones I
don't have album art are dark grey, and the ones that just disapeared
are black.

That solved all the problems. I had the API checked, but either didn't
start it in the right order or something. It seems to be scanning my
files at a reasonable rate, and I can access those already scanned.
Not to mention all the increased functionality with the increased

Problem solved!
Steps to resolve:
1) apt-get upgrade (my debian from woody to sarge)
from deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org stable main
2) apt-get install mplayer-nogui
3) apt-get install w32codecs
(not sure about the name but
apt-cache search mplayer
will tell you)
4) wget

In 6.5 the custom-types.conf and custom-convert.conf files are in the

Having spent many happy months making sure that all my artist tags are
surname-first, I'm a bit dismayed to find that after upgrading to 6.5.0,
quite a few of them have reverted all by their sweet little selves. For
example, Anouar Brahem now appears under A and not B (as Brahem,
Anouar).

Doesn't seem to work - yet: I can't see what's going on... I'll keep on
trying and wait for the reply from tech-support.

I had SlimServer 6.3.1 running on XP Pro without issues when I upgraded

my album tags or artist tags on my FLAC or MP3 files and lists all
songs under the No Album as well as the No Artist heading.
I tried clearing the

Hi,
I absolutely LOVE the scrolling RSS reader capabilities of the SB3.
Does anyone know of a stand-alone device that simply displays RSS
feeds?
Thanks,

Can't help you on #1, but on #2 as has been mentioned elsewhere (can't
recall the specific thread now), because the artwork view is
part-and-parcel of album view, it no longer makes much logical sense to
exclude albums without art from the listings. In other words, this was a
conscious design
So you have set Group Compilation Albums Together in Server Settings
and have compilation set to YES and you still don't have them grouped
together? I'd be interested to know whether it's actually set to 1 and
TagRename is displaying it as 'Yes'. Try mp3tag (it's free), select a
track and press
U... Never mind, it's working now...

I'm a little confused by Josh's reply above.
Bear in mind, I don't have a system or any hardware running; just
checking things out for the future.
Josh said that FLAC supports Replay Gain. If I start with WMA Lossless,
I'm assuming that the transcoding happens on the fly along with volume

Thanks Radish...
I really am not looking to convert my WMAL files to FLAC unless
necessary.
What I'm trying to clarify is whether SS will transcode my WMAL files
on the fly and also do Replay Gain to boot. That way I can leave my
files as is (including future ripping) and convert during
Hi!
I restarted my computer again and as us usal lately Slimserver
immediately started scanning. Tried to look at some of the artists and
albums, but the ones I did look at seemed OK from the start, so doesn't
seem the library is first emptied out. Grateful for any help in
stopping/controling

Thanks again Radish. I'm planning on calling tech support tomorrow.
This has been difficult for me to sort out. I think I've been asking
the wrong question. I'm pretty clear now that SlimServer will not
directly read the WMAL volume tags. But now I'm hopeful that I can
transcode and add volume
I'm seeing exactly what Nostromo is seeing - album art is there, and
that at some point later, it's a placeholder. I'm doing a lot of

Hi there,
I have around 1100 albums, and the slim.exe process takes only 14.812K
(SlimServer 6.5 on WinXP)
The ibdata1 file is 92.160K (I assume this is the SlimServer Cache
file, it is located under SlimServer\Server\Cache\MySQL\)
Hope this helps... :)
Cheers,
Matt
