Did you try using the Browse Music Folders option in slimserver?
Using this interface to navigate to the tracks in question causes the
database to update the information for those tracks.
It's a good way to add a few new albums to the library without having
to do a rescan.

At least in the old 6.3.1, Browse Music Folder doesn't add album art.
I added that manually, but that of course requires SQL knowledge. It
can't be that difficult to create a routine that just checks/fixes
album art, and I don't understand why SlimServer works this way and
only updates album art
Thanks for your suggestion - unfortunately it didnt help.
Any other ideas? This is a quite critical issue since there is a risk
of destroying expensive equipment. Could it be done in a FW upgrade?

Since we're throwing ideas around, you might want to try this:
At the EXACT physical location of your SB3, disconnect the SB3 and try
connecting a laptop in the _same_ power outlet and connect it to your
lan using the _same_ ethernet cable...
You could even use softsqueeze to emulate the SB3

2. From slim server main web page, click on Tune In URL
3. Paste in the full path containing your changed music
4. Click Tune In
5. It should start a local scan of that folder and start playing

Last I heard Seagate has 750 GB drives, but no 1 TB drives, and they're
not as quiet as the Samsung Spinpoints. I have a 250 GB Spinpoint P and
it's extremely quiet. I also have the equivalent Seagate - it's quiet

Seriously, you aren't doing anything that requires a Windows OS. The
only reason I'm keeping Win2k on my main PC is that I do high-def video
capture and editing which, while possible on Linux, isn't yet supported
You could always dual boot, but even more room for fiddling would be to
use VMWare and run windows and office in that for your occasional
need.

Second, sounds like there's a consensus that Spinpoints are the
quietest out there.
Third, as far as I can tell from websurfing and the replies I've gotten
on this forum, the Samsungs only come as internals and that the user
must combine it with
