The address http://localhost:9000 is only usable from the same machine
as slimserver is on. localhost is just an alias for the local machine.
I.e. all computers have the address localhost which you can only use on
that machine.
You have to figure out the ip address for the slimserver on your loc
mine is http://localhost:9000/
But I think the key is that I don't know how to connect my laptop to my
desktop...
If I just type http://localhost:9000/ in the explorer browser, it says
it can't find it.

Well, I sent my SB3 back to SD for repair. It was far less painful than
I'd feared:
19th April : sent SB3 off (postage + insurance was about 18 quid).
26th April : got an email saying it had been repaired, and was ready to
be sent back. Apparently the wireless adapter needed replacement. The

No, this is not possible.
Even if it were, A/V synch would be very difficult since there are two
different programs doing the work - they'd never be processing the same
bit at the same time.

The Windows build must have failed, which it does from time to time. I
imagine it'll be fixed and available later today.
Lazy Search by keyword most of time. Since I discovered it, never did
basic search. Ways to improve it would be to implement similar
spellings and order by date (new music with higher priority.
