If you had problems scanning, then you might give 7.0.2 a try - there was a bug
in 7.0.1 which made the scanner crash if you had more than a few thousand songs.

It is perhaps worth noting that Search for Artists on SC7 itself and on
an SB3 (both with and without using Lazy Search) finds Ian Dury in the
example below just fine. It is only Search on the Duet Controller that

Hi All,
I've had my squeezebox v3 for 6 months now, and for the last week it's
been doing random reboots. It shuts itself down, starts up again and
then carries on playing the song it was playing before. The remote
control is also playing up, the menus aren't as responsive as they were
before.

running on it, and it works great. Probem is, of course, that the
content is not the same. Is there any unitily (from logitec or

This happened to me last year, I claimed on my insurance, 2 squeezeboxes
1 gigabit switch and a router and 3 gigabit pci cards; the insurance
company let me keep the u/s squeezeboxes. They still work wirelessly as
well, which was nice

what you have to do, is figure out what all the characters are that
(whatever filesystem) won't accept in the filename.
then you have to search for those. some are easy to spot, like an
upside down question mark. but you might have some right side up
question marks that you wouldn't think
Well, I realised I had nothing at all by Björk, so that was a giveaway.
Bizarre considering the machine has German windows and the appropriate
characters on the keyboard.
I've removed äëöü from all file and folder names now, just re-scanning
to see how I get on.

show hidden files and/or folders ... I just didn't understand how you
could delete something and have it show up hidden and as far as I
could see, there was nothing there.

I got a more energy-efficient (Vista) machine to use only as my music
server.
So having gone through one install that didn't work due to Comodo
firewall (had to be uninstalled) and one successful install on an XP

(server 7.01 on mac os x) have a lot of backgrond noise, like white
static or as if you would play old tapes.
When listening to these tracks with iTunes or whatever, I don't get

I use the XM plugin and it's rock solid. I used the free 30 day Sirius
and Rhapsody and it was the same, just like I was playing them from my
local machine. I don't see you having any problems. You'll love the
SB.

MusicIP import to debug (advanced tab, select logging)and review the
scanner log. There was one album which was causing the failure. The
import was the last file before the error occurred in the log. By

Just another update on my scanning process:
It's now running for 15 days (low prio, C7, 1GHz) and it still has not
really picked up speed, indeed it has done ~1150 tracks which is
actually down from its original pace of 100 tracks per day.
