Welcome to the forum Atlantic, The beta version of Squeezebox Server had a dlna server built in at the moment and there is a 3rd party add on as well. The sever built into the beta is not complete as far as I know at this time but you may want to have a look in the 3rd party add on's to check on

Do you by any chance have a reasonably old router? I ask because I had the same kind of experience. Since my laptop worked fine, I never suspected the router. I eventually replaced it, and now everything is rock solid. I know it's not free to do this on spec, and YMMV. But if all else fails .

Just curious if Rhapsody works for anyone? I'm able to browse the collection, make a selection but then nothing will play. The squeezeserver shows connecting and then nothing happens. I do not have a logitech player to test with and am only using the built in player included with vortex box.

Controller does one thing SP could never do, that is conecting to the reciever directly via ad-hoc mode wifi, not involving the router, hence SP based setup don't work in all situations the sbr must have a previus somewhat working conection to ever be seen by SP so that is not a complete solution.
