What happens then if you play your music by Genre? Will it still even
out the volume, is there any difference from volume gain?

Just got an Amazon Echo, and wanted to post how I got it to control the
squeezeboxen. It's a little hairy and requires a bit of a work around to
get it to do specific commands (for instance, playing a specific station
or genre requires you to program each genre individually), but it's
worth while

LMS gives me a replaygain for each and every track and he applies the
logic according to the player settings (I assume, again I don't use it).
Give me
Hi all, I'm attempting to write a basic Java app for use with my Android
tablet and need some help with the connection side of things. The only
example code I can find here uses a Jersey client which I can't get to
work in Android , any thoughts ?

Ha ha :-) I've tried that Michael but can't find an example that shows
how to create a connection without a Jersey client
You should know this by now:

And the first hit doesn't even mention Jersey.

I want to thank Phillippe very much for his Chromecast Bridge plugin. It
has worked out pretty well for my small system in my office (a cheapo
Lepai amp and bookshelf speakers), where I have replaced a Squeezebox
Receiver with a Chromecast Audio. This allows keeping Squeezebox
functionality for
If you can't fix it you might consider a Google Chromecast Audio as a
low-cost (~$35) and fairly easy to set up replacement. See these

No issue mixing wired & WiFi, if your network is decent. When playing
local files what format is being used? MP3? FLAC? WAV? I'd suggest
ripping one album to WAV, set LMS to stream WAV native (no transcoding),
see if the players stutter. Full WAV's would be a pretty good stress
test,
And as always with LMS the server should be wired

Try pressing & holding the Brightness button. When plugged in is the
optical port red? Try wiggling the power connection on the player.
Long shotes: try a different outlet, open player & remove the WiFi
board (requires a Torx T10 driver)

We can't stop here this is bat country. RIP
Why did you add a switch ?
It sounds like you added something else to the network and this could be
clogging the network. Some users found SmartTV (i.e. uPNP enabled) can
cause an LMS which has uPNP enabled to start generate packet storms
which clog the network.

Is it just me or did the app break after some update to 1.1.4 (which
Android tends to happily execute on its own)? Both my Nexus 9 and
Samsung S6 Edge act the same ways as one starts the app - it hangs in
the "Free Your Music" screen. And yes, I have cleared data and cache in
the app manager.
Well, there are length of good 3rd party apps for Android, so I don't
really see a problem going forward there. Some are well supported and
under active development (Squeezer is one).

No, I haven't had the issue before. It was working until May. When an
upgrade to Android 6.0 blew up my Nexus 9, i used my iPads. Now that I

I'd appreciate it to Philippe. ReplayGain and gapless playback are the
only issues I have with LMS to Chrome.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known

I've post something in the dev repository, but I don't think this is
satisfactory

I've added replaygain in the dev repository. This only works if the
audio samples sent by LMS are uncompressed (pcm or aif codecs). For mp3
files, as LMS does not by default allows transcoding from mp3 to pcm,
you must add a rule in custom-convert.conf. Be aware that it means that

squeezer works flawlessly on the latest Android version - that's all i
can ask from a software developer. from then on it's market economy
taking it's course. it would *not* be good if we're only left with
