Yeah, it's all worked ok for me. SqueezeCentre is up and running fine.
Took about 45 minutes to install and wasn't able to do anything on the
computer during that time (so get everything done before starting!)

stuck in the "starting" phase... So then I installed SqueezeCenter

And of course that means I can do

I imagine that it may have been possible to fix it with some jiggling

Funnily enough, I chose the pcutmp3 splitter deliberately! I did so
because I had read glowing reports on hydrogenaudio about its ability
to split single mp3 files in a way that would guarantee gapless

Would be interested to hear how you get on with trying to get SlimServer
to recognise the BPM info.
I couldn't get it to show up, and I think it's because SlimServer
doesn't like the fact that MixMeister stores BPM info to 2 decimal
places.
confusing SlimServer?
Any views on the best solution?
Find a different piece of software that writes tags in non-unicode
(whatever that's called!)?
Change all my ID3 tags to unicode, either using "ID3v2.3 UTF-16" or
"ID3v2.4 UTF-8"?
