Thank you Michael!
I finally had a chance to test it out as I was without broadband for
over a week.
All is displayed just as I want it

I've installed the plug in but not having much luck.
I can either have it set:
TRACK // ARTIST - stored music
TRACK // RADIO STATION NAME - radio
or
TRACK (ARTIST) // ARTIST- stored music
TRACK (ARTIST) // RADIO
My new transporter arrived and I'm playing around with options...
Is there a way to set it up when I have a radio on to have the track
name on one display and the artist on the other?
This works for my stored music, but not for radios. I have the track
name on left and the radio station on the
It is a risk buying something that is no longer in production and there
is nobody who can repair it. But as my SB3 is still going strong, I'm
taking the chance.
I'm not entirely happy that the Transporter is going from California to
Erlanger, KY, and then finally shipped to UK. When I sent my
I went for the Transporter. I hope it will last a while. Just like
anything, it could last few days, it could last a decade or more. I've
had the SB3 since 2007 I guess, it's SlimDevices one and I've had no
problems at all.
Now waiting for the seller to ship it. Paid on Tuesday, it's Thursday

Get a joggler for 50 gbp and a decent dac (if necessary)
Yes, it's not cheap. But I don't want to be putting anything together
and I failed to find anything that would meet my requirements in terms
of ease of use (I use the android app, not the remote or LMS).
That's right, LMS is on the Synology DiskStation which is connected to
my SB3 at the moment. I only use the LMS to scan the directory for new
albums.
Otherwise I use my phone except the volume control which I disabled.
I think I may go for the Transporter. It looks the business and I like
the idea of the large display.
Buying it from the US, I guess a travel plug US to UK will be needed. I
don't need to worry about the 240V I guess?
If I need to use the unit itself, the one without the knob, it's a touch
It should be no problem then. Just a standard lead that would plug into
a monitor, pc etc.
I've checked the description on eBay and it states AC 100-240. Although
I guess the description is taken from the web somewhere.
I'm not sure why it says the box contents 'power supply'
This is the item:

If you have a very good setup, you will need a DAC to the touch. You do
not with Transporter, as it has a very very fine sounding DAC. And it

It's a decent set up. Bi-amped Roksan Kandy K2.
I've tried tried Arcam and Audiolab DACs with my

As I've not found a good network player to replace my SB3, I've decided
to go for the Touch or possibly Transporter.
I am not into building stuff, so it's between these two.
Does anybody own both? I'd like to know whether there would be an
advantage paying extra for the Transporter.
I like the
Hmm, adding import charges, realising that buying from the US the tax
will be also added... it all adds up.
I bought Synology DiskStation because that comes with LMS. I wonder
whether I could connect the DiskStation and a DAC and play the 96/24
leaving the SB3 out completely, only using the LMS?
I do not know anything about DACs.
What I know, is I tried two, Arcam irDAC and Audiolab M-DAC. I couldnt
tell any difference when my SB3 was connected to them.
However, I used to have my SB3 connected to an old NAD amplifier. When I
tried Stream Magic 6 with the old NAD, the sound was much
As much as I like the SB3, I will need to replace it because it will not
play 96/24 files.
However, Im having a real problem finding a network player that would
have such a good interface as the Squeezebox has on my android. I do not
use the remote or my laptop, only my android phone.
Artwork,
I've looked at the prices in the UK, a new one £500+, second hand, not
sure, there are some on eBay and they all close on Sunday.
I just came across Simple Audio:

Although I'm not sure whether they have an app for android, I'll
I think I might just go for the Transporter!
Although I do have a few questions before I go for it.
1. I will only use my phone, so I'm guessing the one without the knob
will do just fine. Same unit, same internals etc.?
2. Does it sound much better than the SB3?
3. What is the highest
Shame that it won't play higher than 96Khz. Although, I don't think I
have anything that is above 96. The touch would be more future proof.
I'm very tempted, but the import charges USD 224 are putting me off.

Wanboard? I googled it but as I am not so technically minded it doesn't
mean much to me. I need to use my phone to select the music and radios
from the Synology DiskStation.
I'm not so fussed about 192/24. I think 98/24 is more than enough. It
would be nice to have it if people decide to use it
I have a Squeezebox 3 and I'm trying it out with a DAC.
I've connected the SB3 and the DAC with an optical cable. Interconnect
cable from the DAC to the amp and another interconnect cable from the
SB3 to the amp so I can switch inputs on the amp to compare it.
I can't hear any difference at all.
Thanks for the honest answer!
It looks like the DACs are going back to the shop.
I got two out, the Audiolab and Arcam. The Arcam doesn't have a pre-amp
and when I switch inputs it is a little louder than the SB3 and that
made me think it sounded better.
The Audiolab has a pre-amp, hence I can
I guess it all depends on the set up.
I brought in Stream Magic 6 and Roksan K2 to test them out.
When I connected the SM6 to my very old NAD amp, yes, I could hear the
difference. But when I then tried the SB3 with the Roksan, it was even
better, so I kept the K2.
When I tried the SM6 and K2
