I recently migrated all my FLAC and MP3 to a Vortexbox Appliance. In
order to retain my playlists, I used listfix to re-establish the
mapping for all songs in the playlists.
My problem is that my SB Classics can see my playlists, but they all
appear to be empty. If I go back to listfix it shows
i'm running SS 7.52 using iTunes 10.1.1.4 on Windows 7. i have my
rescan timer set to rescan once a day, at 5am. Frequently, when i try
to play a playlist first thing in the morning, SS says it is empty
(BTW, most of my playlists are dynamic lists in iTunes). Sometimes i

I recently moved my music files to a NAS device. SlimServer can see and
play all the music fine, but all of the playlists are empty. I use
iTunes to manage my music, and in iTunes the playlists show up as
expected. I searched around and found this thread
As the guy in the other thread did, you should read the support pages.

Seems to answer your query quite well.

See the below post - moving your music (and presumably .xml file?) onto
a different drive may have caused this. What happens if you copy the
.xml file to the same drive as Slimserver/Squeezecenter is installed
on?

Not so much.
Sorry if this is grandmother sucking eggs, but have you done a full
clear and rescan? Maybe try a playlist only rescan just to check?
I would definitely check that the .xml file is the right one. Itunes
does create new .xml files without telling you. Locate the file and
look at the timestamp

The complete rescan used to help when I redo Tags and solved a lot of
problems.
Is the new scanning behaviour a bug or feature? (seriously .. I can
live with both)

A feature! There are three kinds of scan you can do:
*Complete recscan*, which wipes and rebuilds the database from scratch.
As you point out, this is the scan you will probably need to do if
you've made major changes to the tags in your existing music.
*Playlist scan*, which scans for new
There should be an option in server settings to maintain or forget

Mine is set to: Remember Playlist
I just set it to the forget playlist and put it back again ..
Maybe it will be ok tomorrow...

If you do a full clear and rescan every day, my understanding is that
Slimserver completely re-writes its database and forgets about all the
files which existed in your Now Playing playlist. So it will be empty
every day regardless of the maintain client playlist settings.

today) it lists all of my iTunes playlists but it says they are empty.
Here's the really weird part: this morning the playlists had
