Hi - I can't locate my Favorites as favorites.opml anywhere, let alone
my playlists folder. Any ideas what/where it is? (I'd like to back it
up, as I have lost it previously.)

I don't think they get erased. The new version has things in a different
place, and the old place doesn't get erased. But this may depend on your
OS, which you don't mention.
You should be able to import old favorites into, if they don't get
imported automatically. I did not have any 6.5
Existing favorites are stored in the file slimserver.pref for 6.5. With
7.0 this is converted into a new format and stored in the playlist
directory as favorites.opml.
It is intended that the upgrade will import your old favorites into the
