What about the iPod HiFi? I read that it sounds really good for its
price. It also has digital and analogue inputs, so it might be a good
partner for the SBs.

Kyle,
What are you going the be playing through it?
If it's rock/pop, then seriously consider a keyboard/acoustic guitar
amp combo. I really don't think the Tivoli would cut the mustard in
terms of volume without room gain effects.

How about a Bose Wave, you could buy the cheaper radio only version as
you won't require a CD if you're using it with a SB. It has an auxillary
input and the new model has a flat top which looks ideal for sitting the
SB on. I've got the old style CD version which sounds great for a second

He, he...so true
There's also these to consider and I beleive Slim devices have been
known to use this system for show demo's. They have aux power but no
grilles so may get damaged if the porch party gets out of hand???

If we're talking self-powered speakers, the favourites of AVS Forum are
'Swans' (http://www.swanspeaker.com/mul/index.asp), studio monitors
like the M200 or T200a.
However I believe the OP was looking for something that fits in one

For outdoor listening, I use a full range keyboard amplifier/speaker
system (12 woofer + tweeter). Mines an old Fender KXR60 and I have
had loads of fun with through the years.
Keyboard amps are designed to have areasonably linear freq. response.
It doesn't have auxiliary power socket but I am
These probably don't qualify as a boomboxes, and I'm not sure if they
are in the price range you are looking at - but the Denon M3x series
offers excellent sound in a compact box at a relatively reasonable
price.
This was the ticket for me:

The Sony Zs-SN10. Has a line in port, remote, and will also play mp3's

daughter, but ever since I have wanted one for me also.

Yes but...it's a Sony.

Fair enough, if you have political reasons for not buying anything
Sony. I did do a bit of boombox research though, and i didn't find
anything else this sweet. The pickings are pretty slim in the boombox
world.

You are right, it is probably great for the application.
