Well, synchronization has been a feature since early in the development of the Slimserver software. Cross-fading is a feature that appeared only first in R6 of the server, corresponding to the SB2 hardware appearing. Most early adopters had SB1s, or mixtures of SB1 and SB2. It isn't possible
