JJZolx, thanks for the link. I knew there was some discussion about
dithering but it looks like the max-levels problem is being looked at
as well. Attachment 3099 looks like it addresses the issue.
I very much hope this makes it into the next release.

Is this just a controller display issue? There's a *long* bug
discussion over optimizing the display of images on that display. Not
resolved yet...

I find the "blown out" highlights of the album art to be distressing.
When the RGB pixel values in the artwork approach white (255, 255,
255), there are terrible reversals and color artifacts on the display.
