I'm not a vortexbox user as I'm comfortable with dyi linux server, but
my friend expressed interest and the following might increase the appeal
for the appliance:
1. easily configurable rsync backup to usb or a network drive. By easy

Every few months I ask the SqueezeBox community what new features they
want to see in the next release of VortexBox. We always get a lot of
great suggestions and we have added a lot of features based on community
feedback.
We are currently working on a HiRez software player that works with SBS

I don't use Vortexbox at all, never tried it. 1 thing I do and 1 I'd
like to have done:
When I do a server for friends or family, I add a VPN connection.
On-demand or all the time, the machine bridges itself to a maintenance
zone on my network.
Going there I can fix the machine and being bridged

Another vote for MusicIP to be included in Vortexbox. Also, if you don't
already have a live CD I think it would be good to make one available.
I think you'd interest a lot more people to try it who aren't quite
ready to nuke their existing Windows or Linux installations. Even better
than a live
We will look into getting MusicIP working by default. Any other features
people are looking for in an media center NAS?

I vote for
- MusicIP pre-installed and configured (plus the ability to enter
your key somewhere to use the extra features)
- Some safe means of storing the MusicIP fingerprint data in the
files (by either using genpuid [a working version], or making headless
do it), for the people who
+1 for musicip.
Personally i wish logitech would buy out musicip and make it official -
development has pretty much stalled now, has it not? It would be a great
'app' and give them a serious advantage over competitors (excluding
apple who already have genius).
As for album art, and very good

I thinks it's halted. The guy that was doing the development (or at
least leading it up) doesn't work there any more.

This forum has been a great sounding board for new features in
VortexBox. I have received a lot of valuable feedback from SqueezeBox
users on what they are looking for in an auto ripping NAS. So far we
have implemented these features that were requested by users of this
forum.

VortexBox auto rips your CD when you put the CD in the drive. It looks
for cover art on both Amazon and Google images. I don't see any reason
to have an SC plug-in for this.

You mean I can't play a CD without ripping it?

MusicIP has been a requested feature before. I just can't figure out a
simple way to get it installed. The install instructions lead me to
believe there is a bit of Voodoo to getting it working. I'll look at it

It's actually not all that bad. However, the SC configuration has to be
changed. When using the MusicIP integration, you need to add the music
to MusicIP. SC will then automatically pick it up. It's nice because
it avoids having to do a full clear and rescan of the SC database
everytime you
