Sweet! Thanks, guys - I've just made my first-ever eBay purchase, a
Logitech-era Classic, and got it for $43 less than the Buy Now price.

so I guess I either suck it up and buy a Touch for $600 or think about

Hang in there. Sonos is no match for Squeezebox; believe me I have tried
it.
There are other options. You could wait for the 'Community Squeeze
project'

Hmm...the $600 price was for a supposedly new-in-box Touch, but I
suppose at that price I could afford to get a used dud Classic or two
and still come out ahead.
Just for example, $99 opening bid, no bids to date:

Yes. I bought it directly from Logitech. I've since purchased another
Classic and a Boom, so I'm not without music. I just wanted to get this
one working again as the line has been discontinued. If my other Classic
dies, I'm not sure what I'll hook up to my stereo amplifier.
I found lots of

Thanks maggior and Pascal. I have tried it without the wifi card with no

new in the summer of 2007, so it's seen some use, but never been opened
before.
Below is a photo of the other side of the card.

Did you also try the Xilinx reset (press 1 on remote during power up ) ?
Thanks maggior. I don't have any experience with a solder iron but I'll
find someone who does when Tet is over. (I'm in Vietnam.) I appreciate
the suggestion.
bpa, I tried the Xilinx and the hard (+) reset with no result. Thanks,
though.

You might push on what's on the other side of the baord where the solder
joints are whiteish. As you push on them or try to wiggle them *gently*
see if you see the solder joints or what is poking through them moving.
Did you try using the SB with the wifi card removed? It will work
without it

As you can see from the attachment, there is some white discoloration

this.) Does that appear to be a problem or was it most

You might try squeezeslave on your htpc. I set it up as a service on my
windows box using srvany.
Also (probably not an issue with a HTPC), squeezeslave can output
through ASIO or Direct Sound. I'm using a Behringer UCA202 to convert
ASIO over USB to SPDIF, then that SPDIF to a receiver with

Yup tried the brightness button also. No glow on the sides or from the
optical out. I think it is a lost cause :(

Hi all
My SB classic just died. Not sure what happened but it is not powering
up.
I was wondering if I could get some suggestions. The system where this
died is near an htpc. Is there a way to go coax out on the pc to my amp
and still use LMS? I want to keep LMS because I have a boom and a
Does the optical connection light up ?
If not check PSU ?
If it does then try removing the wifi card as a faulty wifi card will
prevent a SB classic from booting.

You can still get them used on eBay.
If you want to turn your HTPC into a Squeezebox install Squeezeplay.
Allright. The player is getting power. The network connection light on
the switch illuminates when I plug it in. So it is like this thing is
not booting. I tried to do a factory reset but nothing happened. (hold
the + key when plugging in)
