I suspect this is actually a manifestation of the bizarre MAC cloning
bug, whereby the SB somehow overwrites its own MAC address with that of
something else on the same LAN...it's happened to me twice now (in 3
years of constant fiddling). I've never raised a bug against this

I'm concerned when you said that the two units had the same MAC address.
Was the same number printed on two labels? Did the labels match what
the software said the MAC addresses were? What were they?

No, you don't need to change the slimserver at all to add remove
squeezeboxes. This is because it's designed to have more than one
attached. All you need to do is setup the new squeezebox, tell it
where your server is and you're done.

if you're showing a player with a 127.0.0.1 address, it probably means
you were running softsqueeze on teh same machine as your server. You
can tell it to forget each existing player individually and then set up
your new hardware player and you'll be good to go.
