I'm also using the built in xpl interface in Squeezebox Server to drive
power switching. The xpl route allows you to drive a number of
different switching technologies. I used to use x10 to do the
switching, but now use RF devices (Homeeasy). I have five squeezeboxes

The BBC has had streaming problem in recent past - there are some things
you may do to minimise the issue such as using an alternative format or
increasing buffer but you should first characterise the problem.
As Mnyb suggested - first determine if it is a BBC only problem. Since

Thanks for the patch.
I didn't think users would use a remote without a display of some kind,
so the limitation was by choice.
Are other squeezeslave users using lirc this way?
I'll look at removing that limitation after

I have the squeezebox touch connected to a Denon 591 receiver through
digital cable (toslink). When the alarm is on, the receiver will be
turned off so no sound will be played.
Can the squeezebox play the alarm without the receiver and the
receiver's speakers being on?

I just tried it with the receiver off, the alarm went off but no sound
was being played because the receiver is off.
I know the Squeezebox Touch comes with internal speakers but why isn't
the alarm being played through that? Does Logitech actually expect the
sound equipment (receiver, speakers

The PC Listen Live through iPlayer will be using AAC whereas if you are
using the URL from BBC - they are WMA.
Which URLs are you using ?
Are you using the iPlayer plugin as this will

You could try installing the iplayer plugin (go to the web settings

This uses the same streams as the desktop iplayer by default and so may

Some firewall hang on to packets for longer than they should and
perhaps this is aggravating the rebuffering.
Have you tried increasing the Radio Station buffer seconds to see if it
makes a difference (WebUI Settings/Advanced/Network ) ?

Thanks for all your help and tips guys, especially bpa.
The post to add audio to a QNAP looks promising. A little risky for me
though since I wont be able to return anything that I buy since I have
to ship in everything from the US.
I'm going to start by getting a Squeezebox Boom and see how
