Re: [slim] AAC for ip3k-Players
Ubicom, maker of the ip3023 processor in those devices, is now history. From what I can find, Qualcomm bought what was left of the company in 2012. I somehow doubt that the SDK for a 12 year old processor still costs anything like that. Not a simple task/ I doubt it will be cheap- if the chip and SDK is still available then the company will probably still charge large amount as the customers who want long term support (e.g. military) usually have deep pockets. You'll then need Logitech to the source open licence for Slim proto and display stuff but the decoders were third party so you'll need to get licences for them (e.g. MP3, AAC, WMA etc.) and then there may be some other proprietary code (left over from Rhapsody or similar) which may have other conditions attached. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103711 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Using Squeezebox Boom from overseas?
I've brought my Squeezebox Boom to an Asian country, where I'm now working. In order to access US-based internet contents that check the IP, I use what's called DNS Proxy, which will make the other side believe that I'm logging on from the states. It's a hit-or-miss. Some websites will see me as residing in the US, while others won't. Unfortunately, the services that I try to connect to with my Squeezebox Boom see right through the DNS proxy and tell me that this service is not available outside the U.S.. Is there anything that I can do? (If this was a service that I wanted to connect from a web browser, I can't heighten a notch and use VPN, which almost always succeeds in fooling the other side about the whereabouts of me.) Just remember that in the simple unsafe way of doing this, you must portforward 9000 tcp and 3483 udp/tcp in the router . Forum members doing this regularly are using vpn tunnelling instead . I've done this the unsafe way on occasion , but I accessed my router from outside and only turned on this just for the listening session . Is there any way round this? You can create a SSH tunnel to your home using port 443. Then you forward local port 9000 and 3483 to your LMS server at home. Bump. How about $300 plus shipping for everything and I will go ahead and include a brand new controller battery. I also have my old HP MediaSmart EX470 server, which I can get clean installed with a system drive and will include that for another $100. I have tested it and everything still works fine. Screen is great... no dead pixels. 1 Boom (has remote) - a little scuffed up on bottom, but otherwise good. 1 Duet (controller and receiver) - great condition, but controller needs a new battery to be used out of cradle for more than a few minutes. 1 official Boom mounting bracket with all hardware and instructions.
