Re: [slim] Duet & SB Classic Persistent Buffering (seemingly not networking/bandwidth related)
i have had alot of struggles with receivers on wifi (duet = receiver and controller) and have experienced exactly the issue describe, and done a similar test process of backing off trying to identify if its isp, network, bandwidth etc. I have not had the same issues with booms, touches, or radios. I setup a duet for a friend who has questionable wifi and little technical patience, and could not get it to run for more than a day. I replaced it with a touch, and its virtually problem free, he loves it. I have quite a fews sb's (maybe an addiction, I suppose), but I currently have 2 receivers in the mix, both seldom used, both are connected via ethernet, picore server, they are working fine, or so it seems, when I use them. Since the troublesome days, I switched from windows lms to picore, and hooked them to ethernet but don't know if anything i did other than not using them that much was helpful. I have always suspected, no proof, that the receivers do not handle network exceptions as well as the other players. It seems they get unhappy, rebuffer, and often never recover the way the other players do. Why not try connecting one of yours via ethernet and see what happens? I dont have any experience with the classic, perhaps others do. My only other suggestion is to get a different player, or build a picore player. Like I said, I have 2 of my 4 receivers in service and would buy another radio, touch, boom, or build another picore, but (sadly) I'll never buy another receiver. good luck, Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111964 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

So I assume Onkyo never come back to you about that sleep issue. I could try a workaround so that, even when a player says bye, I do not remove it when "Remove Timeout" is set to -1, but the premature end of playback is another problem ... does it happen with all formats or only hires / pcm? [slim] Duet & SB Classic Persistent Buffering (seemingly not networking/bandwidth related)
I've been having this problem for a while now and finally decided to reach out and see if anyone else has come across this. Roughly every week or so, my duet/receiver and a classic start perpetually buffering regardless of quality (flac down to 128kbps mp3 - all local files). The players are connected via wifi, but are both within 5 unobstructed ft of routers/APs and are reading 95-100% signal strength while exhibiting the buffering. Also, rebooting the devices completely fixes the issue; they immediately start playing again after a reboot with no buffering. The devices are in very well-ventilated areas and are moderately cool to the touch, so I don't think it's a thermal issue. I was thinking of trying to figure out a way to reboot the devices on a daily basis (maybe a crude timer to cut power at like 4am or something) to avoid this from happening, but I'd prefer a more elegant solution if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions? There's more info available in the KidsPlay settings pages of the LMS web interface. My CLI skills are very rusty, but I just verified something as simple as using the web UI to set *button shuffle* as a player macro for one of the buttons. You'll also need to set "BEHAVIOR FOR PRESETS OF BOOM AND RADIO AND RECEIVER BUTTON" to one of the two "KidsPlay routine..." choices. BTW, this also works with 'my StatusFirst plugin' (https://tuxreborn.netlify.com/slim/statusfirst) if, like me, you prefer to verify the current setting first (rather than change it immediately). owner of the stuff at https://tuxreborn.netlify.com/ (which used to reside at www.tux.org/~peterw/) Note: The best way to reach me is email or PM, as I don't spend much time on the forums. *Free plugins:* AllQuiet Auto Dim/AutoDisplay BlankSaver ContextMenu DenonSerial FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111958 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Squeezebox and Ubiquiti
Yes, I run the Controller on an RPi (along with Pi-Hole) and it is easy to do with well documented instructions: https://community.ui.com/questions/Step-By-Step-Tutorial-Guide-Raspberry-Pi-with-UniFi-Controller-and-Pi-hole-from-scratch-headless/e8a24143-bfb8-4a61-973d-0b55320101dc?page=1 You can also buy the dedicated Ubiquity Controller (an RPi in a cute box and plug 'n play) or run the Controller in the Ubiquity Cloud for free.
