i have had alot of struggles with receivers on wifi (duet = receiver and
controller) and have experienced exactly the issue describe, and done a
similar test process of backing off trying to identify if its isp,
network, bandwidth etc. I have not had the same issues with booms,
touches, or radios. I setup a duet for a friend who has questionable
wifi and little technical patience, and could not get it to run for more
than a day. I replaced it with a touch, and its virtually problem free,
he loves it.

I have quite a fews sb's (maybe an addiction, I suppose), but I
currently have 2 receivers in the mix, both seldom used, both are
connected via ethernet, picore server, they are working fine, or so it
seems, when I use them. Since the troublesome days, I switched from
windows lms to picore, and hooked them to ethernet but don't know if
anything i did other than not using them that much was helpful.

I have always suspected, no proof, that the receivers do not handle
network exceptions as well as the other players. It seems they get
unhappy, rebuffer, and often never recover the way the other players do.
Why not try connecting one of yours via ethernet and see what happens?

I dont have any experience with the classic, perhaps others do.

My only other suggestion is to get a different player, or build a picore
player. Like I said, I have 2 of my 4 receivers in service and would buy
another radio, touch, boom, or build another picore, but (sadly) I'll
never buy another receiver.

good luck,

Jim
