[slim] Multiple disc albums using DISC DISCC doesn't work.
I'm using a recent 6.1.0 nightly and I filled DISC DISCC tags for my multi-disc albums album title (disc %DISC% of %DISCC%) and then removed the (disc x of y) part in the album titles. And then I rescanned. This doesn not seem to work (or I don't understand how it's supposed to work!?) because regardless of the Group Discs setting, all my multi-disc albums show up as single albums with tracks all listed in numerical order (not according to disc order). Yep. The album names are the same but I didn't move the mp3 files into the same directory... (e.g. /mnt/music/AC-DC Live (disc 1 of 2) /mnt/music/AC-DC Live (disc 2 of 2)). I wouldn't think that the directory names matter..? I used the tags disc discc but it pretty much reacts as if these tags didn't exist. Some only have the disc tag with no discc (disc 2). I tried both settings for grouped albums and wiped cache before each. No difference was perceived. Also, how would the tracks appear if I chose to have all multi-disc albums show up as single albums? 01 - track 1 of first disc 02 - track 2 of first disc (...) 01 - track 1 of second disc 02 - track 2 of second disc (...) OR 01 - track 1 of first disc 01 - track 1 of second disc (...) 02 - track 2 of first disc 02 - track 2 of second disc (...) I would assume #1 makes more sense musically..? If you're running SlimServer as a service on XP then you need to have the service log on using a user accunt instead of the default Local System account. The Local System account has no network privileges. You'll also probably find it much easier using UNC network paths for the Music directory (for example, \\ComputerName\MusicShare\) rather than a mapped drive letter. They are coming up because the debug asks for the last scan time. since you havent' scanned since startup, its indefined. with 6.1 nightlies, a zero in the reload interval will prevent the scan, as the log shows. The cacheid issue is something I have sent off to Predixis as a query. It seems that shutting down with unfinished business can cause the next start to have a new cacheid. [slim] Accessible thru firewall?
Hi. I am on a college campus on their dormitory network. I tried using a few plugins on Winamp to directly control which music I wanted to hear, but the school's firewall, their NAT stuff, and port blocking prevented that. I was wondering if this program, SlimServer, would be able to work through that. I am able to use ShoutCast to stream the music, but part of what I want is to pick which songs I want to hear and then have that stream. Thank you. -- eli2k ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Why not just put a laptop in your trunk? 80GB hard disk. Or 2, like some laptops let you. Run slimserver on that.
