Hm, just happened again.
I paused inside a title. When I restarted after half an hour or so, the
SB continued, but at the end of the song it did't skip to the next song,
but played silence (time remaining 00:00 and so on).
I use a static IP now for the SB so this is definitely no DHCP issue.

I've just replaced my SB1 with an SB3. Both are the Wireless versions,
and my other infrastructure remains unaltered - NetGear WG602 (V2)
Access Point etc.
The SB3 just will not connect to the wireless network. It sees my SSID
but it will not connect. I have tried WEP64, WEP128, even
I had a lot of artwork display problems and have now got it to work how
I want it to. However, it was a laborious process and I had to do a lot
of diggin around to solve the problem.
Basically, when Windows media player rips a CD it creates it's own
Folder.jpg and some other artwork thumbnails
So do I, because I have EXACTLY the same problem. SB3, NetGear WG602 AP.
The SB3 sees the SSID but will not connect.
I was tempted to shell out for a new AP, but reading the posts here
suggests that I'll get exactly the same problem with a different AP. My
betting is that the SB3 is faulty -

No, I've removed all MAC address filtering.
I've made a little bit of progress though. When I start the setup
process I am offered my SSID, or I can choose to manually key an SSID.
When I use the one which is offered (HomeLAN) it never works.

What I've done in this situation is copy the file into the music folder,
play it with Browse Music Folder, then delete it and hit rescan. I don't
seem to have the same problems some people do with rescanning so it's
pretty transparent to me.

I run a squeezebox 1 over 14MB homeplug (from Solwise) which works fine.
I don't think you need 85MB.. unless you're streaming FLAC to several
SBs, which perhaps you are. My wireless signal dropped completely
whenever the microwave was turned on.

Yes, I could probably get away with the 14Mb ones. After all, SB1 is
only 802.11b (11Mb) and I never had any loss of streaming (all my stuff
is MP3).
Still hurts though, having to look at a hardwired solution because the
SB3 Wireless is so flakey!

Slimserver to be a bit erratic. 6.1 was great, but 6.2 often stops
responding, or dies altogether (running on RedHat Enterprise Linux).
When this happens my SB1 used to say cannot connect, press right to

1) Enable SSID broadcast
2) Switch n the player and go through the wireless setup. When it
offers you your SSID name *IGNORE IT* and instead press the DOWN button
to enter one manually. Press RIGHT.

This is a networking thing. That address is a fallback when dhcp isn't

link music storage areas together. It caused the scan function to
reloop through directories that were scanned the first time creating

shortcuts that point off in odd directions. There used to be a bug in
this area ... otherwise, 300 songs is a small library to be having such

I can confirm that the Palm TX works just fine as a remote control using
the handheld skin. You get pretty much what you get in any of the full
sized skins on a PC including (if you have it) cover art,and access to
all system and player settings without having to go to your PC.
