Re: [slim] Is there a way to correct this sync problem?
Thanks for trying to help with this problem. I am not real saavy with all these terms and abbreviations (flac,aac,alac,etc.). When I am listening to ,for instance, one radio station that is on a playlist and then I turn on another synced SB player, the station is switched to a previous station on the list. I then must rechange the station to the station I was originally listening to. It's not a big problem for me but when I demonstrating the SB stuff to friends , I have to explain what happened and it is viewed as a flaw in the system. Just wondered if it was something that could be corrected. By the way, I use ipeng as the controller(which I appreciate very much). -- Ikabob Ikabob's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32088 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72819 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Is there a way to correct this sync problem?
Do you mean real Radio stations or tracks from e.g. Napster etc? For radio stations this really should not be. It should also never switch to a PREVIOUS track, just to the beginning of the current one. [slim] Controller Playback stutter
My set up is: Linksys Ready NASDuo running Squeezecenter (7.4.1) Squeeze Controller (7.4.1 r7915) Squeezebox 3 (Firmware 130) All the above are running 7.4.1. Both the Controller and the Squeezebox are connected by wireless, the NASDuo is wired. Since upgrading to this release I have persistent stutter with audio playback through the controller. A am certain this is NOT a wireless or server issue - I get no stutter from the Squeezebox (therefore not wireless causing the problem), and I DO get stutter playing BBC radio through the controller (therefore not my squeezecenter causing it either). I have also tried re-applying the controller update - this produced no noticeable improvement. It happens with real radio stations. They move to the next station on the list and I have to restart the original station. Easy to do... Just wondered if there could be a fix. [slim] Squeeze Box server not recognizing network hard drive
Good snowy morning from the Northeast! I've had my music files stored on a networked hard drive for some time with no trouble. Suddenly, Squeezebox server doesn't see the library. I can access the hard drive and all folders from the PC just fine. I've tried power cycling the PC, router, and hard drive with no luck. On the SB Server home page My Music doesn't show up as an option. The network drive is mapped as drive Z, and on the basic settings page, for Music Folder I can browse to the folder where the music is (Z:/FLAC)with no trouble, and can see sub folders fine. Any thoughts? I tried calling support (usually can figure out myself, but am stumped). No love. They said the network hard drive is unsupported. [slim] Connecting SB3 directly to old mac mini
I have had a Squeezebox 3 since they first came out and it has been working fine over a wireless network, with my main study PC acting as the server. Now that I've moved house, there are two very thick brick walls between my router (and PC) and the lounge where the SB3 sits, with the result that my flac files drop out all of the time. So I've decided to try to do away with the network issue and put a small computer with external hard drive right there in the lounge, next to the SB3. That way I won't be relying on the wireless network. But I can't get it to work. I have an old Mac mini that I thought I would use to run the server software and connect to the hard disk. It is a pre-Intel one so I had a bit of a runaround trying to get an old version of Squeezecenter that would run on it - I now have 7.3.4 and the server side seems fine. But I can't seem to set the Squeezebox up to see the mac mini properly. To be honest I can't get my head around the idea of creating a network between the two devices that doesn't have a router involved. When I tell the SB3 that it should connect by wired ethernet then it tries to get an IP address via DHCP but of course the mac doesn't give it one. And if I give it a manual IP address then it asks for details like the router IP and DNS server IP, neither of which seem to apply at all... What am I doing wrong? Have you reset the SB3 to Factory Default setting? If I remember you would unplug the power from the SB3 for about 5 minutes then hold down the + or Add button on the remote and you should be back to the Factory reset. If you are using and ethernet connection be sure you are using an ethernet crossover cable not a regular ethernet cable between your Mac Min and SB3. I've used that type of setup in the past without problems although it was with an older version of Squeeze Server ( then called Squeezecenter ) You would then go through setup and select ethernet connection. Since many of these stations do not have proper cover art, the SB should use the Amazon app to display cover art based on the keyword of the artist (from EPG metadata). Hope this makes sense... Re: [slim] EPG whats on for all streaming stations
huytere;497468 Wrote: 1) Does SB have now playing metadata support for all the apps and internet stations? I am looking for the EPG data similar to how tv companies store whats on - now playing in their EPG. TV's have bandwidth dedicated for that. (It was in the Vertical Blanking Interval for NTSC, but part of the datastream for Digital). Radio doesn't have that at all, and Internet radio depends on the station providing that data. Some do, some don't. For those that do and that RadioTime or Live365 or whatever support, yes, you get now playing. These can be buried as part of the stream and displayed by the SB, or in some cases you can do things like find all stations playing NPR's All Things Considered, and how far into the program they are (due to timezones and local schedules, you can tune into All Things Considered anywhere from I think 1pm Pacific (4pm Eastern) until 7pm Pacific (10pm Eastern).. it may actually be wider than that. Assuming I have these favorite preset radio stations, which of these support cover art, now playing EPG 2 Pandora stations 3 Shoutcast stations 5 Sirius stations 1 Xm station 1 Slacker station 2 Last.FM stations 5 Live Music Archive concerts (from archive.org) 7 RadioIO stations My goal is to build a very simple UI. The UI will simply show all the consolidated favorite internet stations and the now playing EPG info. When he selects the station he wants to listen to, the cover art will be available. Since many of these stations do not have proper cover art, the SB should use the Amazon app to display cover art based on the keyword of the artist (from EPG metadata). Hope this makes sense... I realize this may be asking for a lot more that what it was intended so please bear with me. Most of those are not stations like terrestrial radio stations: there is no list of Pandora stations, they are all generated dynamically. Same with Last.FM. Live Music Archive only plays what you ask it to and there are THOUSANDS of shows. Slacker may be dynamic as well... there really is no now playing for them unless you're, well, playing something. -- snarlydwarf snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72869 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

My car can receive and display them, but they are only on a few stations. And they must be low bandwidth, as they don't change much. I forget the name of the technology, I remember it was popular in Europe long before it came to the US. -- Pat Farrell http://www.pfarrell.com/ ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
