No buffering, just gaps in the audio stream. It does indeed seem to be
only BBC, and I've just seen another thread on the 3rd Party Plugins
forum about this exact same thing.
Thanks for the help, I'm glad to know it's not just me!

Very annoying situation...
I switch frequently mysbs - sbs and viceversa on my boom (I turn off
my pc server) and every switch there is a firmware upgrade/downgrade.
Which is the reason to update mysbs before sbs?

I used to know, but since updating my SBS to 7.5.4 I've forgotten,
because it's no longer an issue. My vague recollection is that they
fixed the bug that was causing connectivity problems, so they wanted to
get it out fast
I am interested as well. Boxee Box with external Harddisk should have
enough cpu/ram to run a squeezebox server. If anyone has any pointers
where to start would be nice. I'll try to check what it needs to build
an app for the boxee box.

You want a bad review of the Harmony? I can write a short one for you.
;) I hate configuring complex setups through an impenetrable veil of
agonizingly sluggish wizards that hides everything that is low level

Same problem here on my Boom, only I am connecting via mysqueezebox.com
not a local server. Both Radio1 and Radio4 are doing the same; no
buffering issues just every 30 seconds or so the audio drops out for a
second.

fyi, the Duet Receiver is not much larger than a SliMP3 (dimensions
from the wiki). In fact, the total volume of the SBR is less than the
