I'm aware.
I just uninstalled it to see if it would work.
It is now back.

Earlier this year, the Logitech Squeezebox app stopped working, first on
my Sony Xperia Z phone, and sometime later it stopped working on my
Xperia Z tablet.
The app just displays "Free you music" and then nothing more happens.
I suspect that this was caused by system upgrades on the devices.
Undoing the Android update is not wise. It was updated to fix a
security flaw (which you just removed). Update your Android's to the
latest release then use one of several third party Android control apps
for SqueezeBox.
It just worked once

Sorry, I really do fail to understand. What is casting to what? How
does anything get from a server to a speaker using it?
LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi, Xubuntu 14.04,

no, go to cache folder, then look for the file named "library.db". Copy
this file to your

Small - cheap - packaged - 'squeezelite' player ?

I'm having a total failure to see any point.
If it's a PC/laptop I can use squeezelite. If it's an android or apple
device there are other players around.
So can someone give me an

I clearly need a brain transplant. How does that help me with LMS, or
indeed any other music server?

Do you want to know the technology or the userr experience. For the
user experience look at the Chromecast website.
Technology - Chromecast is

Some user would like to have speakers that can be shared between
multiple users (e.g. in a Kitchen) so some time it is used by LMS and at
other time by service cast from phone/tablet - control of who using the
I would simply want to use a Chromecast Audio as a squeezebox player.
The casting means nothing to me, not interested. But if I could use
SqueezeToUPNP to a Chromecast Audio the same as I would with a UPNP
device to play audio as if it were a SqueezeBox, then it might be useful
to me.

When I navigate To C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache I see a file called
library, and one named library.db-shm, and one named library.db-wal. I
am running version 7.7.4 if that makes a difference.

Chromecast Audio devices also interested me as a possible alternative
when my Classic or Touch finally expire. The "simplest" way I've found
to use them does require an Android phone or tablet, with the Google
Chromecast, Squeeze Player and Squeeze controller apps installed. Use
the main-menu
When I navigate to the cache folder and try to open it I get a msg that
windows cannot open this file cache.db. I assume the library.db is
inside this file ?
Thanks for helping

One thing puzzles me: in the various catalog apps or generators I've
seen, I've never found the option to actually consume the contents that
are being catalogued. Never a "play" button. Why is that?
To me a catalog is a great way
Sent this to the support email as well, but thought I'd copy it here in
case anyone ran into the same issues that I did.
Running on multiple android 6 devices doesn't work. Only 1 device is
seen by the server at a time. The devices also show a MAC address of
02:00:00:00:00:00 which is fake. I've

Hi Bpa,
I am running LMS Repack 7.9.0 on Synology DS 213 with a Receiver and
Radio.
I always like to hear these podcasts, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Fedde le

Finally i found this thread how to handle, installed ffmpeg

I got it to work a few hrs. ago but had to go out for a bit. I had to
add a .db to the library folder and then it worked.
Searching for how to open the file I inadvertently changed how that file
type opens to Adobe Acrobat Reader and do not know how to change it to
what it should be. Told you I
