Chromecast Audio devices also interested me as a possible alternative when my Classic or Touch finally expire. The "simplest" way I've found to use them does require an Android phone or tablet, with the Google Chromecast, Squeeze Player and Squeeze controller apps installed. Use the main-menu option in the Chromecast app to cast audio to a CCA device. Start the Squeeze Player app. Start the controller app. Make sure you are controlling the Android device. Choose content from your LMS and listen happily.
Casting a tab from the Chrome browser to a CCA device also works very well, which made had me wondering about the possibility of running squeezelite in a browser tab. There is also an Android app called BubbleUPnP, which seems to be able to connect any visible source to any renderer, including Squeeze players and CCA devices. BTW, the Squeeze Player app is wonderful, and worth far more than it's modest price. I have been using this with the Squeeze Commander app for a number of years now, on a succession of phones and tablets. Having Android devices as part of my Squeezebox experience seems completely normal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dysonapr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21534 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104383 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
