Re: [slim] Any standalone Squeezebox-like devices that play HLS/MPEG-DASH streams natively?
My Revo SuperConnect Radio plays the Live BBC Dash streams after a recent update. It isn't a touch like device, it has other features though. (DAB/FM/Spotify etc etc) It can function as a LMS UPNP Squeezelite player thanks to Philippe's plugin, but don't think your interested in that feature. It only has wifi and not ethernet connection and has a pretty good amplifier/speaker for it's size. You have to programme the indidual BBC (Live) Streams on a dedicated web page for the radio to find and then they can be assigned to one of the eight favourite remote buttons for instant access. Haven't tried it on any other dash streams, have you got one to try it on? Re: [slim] Any standalone Squeezebox-like devices that play HLS/MPEG-DASH streams natively?
While SB Touch could have HLS or DASH implemented within Touch as Triode implemented Flash - IIRC the development environment is difficult and nobody around has done any similar development recently so the knowledge maybe lost. There is a problem with vendors implementing DASH or HLS. They need to get revenue from existing products lines to repay development costs. Current hardware probably can't be upgraded for HLS / DASH and if a new product support HLS/DASH it will make existing products obsolete. The BBC by changing from Flash to http/AAC to HLD, HDS and DASH in a few years mau have gone too far ahead of the vendors. For most internet radio users the MP3 (and AAC for R3) live streams from BBC are adequate. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106799 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Any standalone Squeezebox-like devices that play HLS/MPEG-DASH streams natively?
I've noticed looking at the www.publicradiofan.com website that a growing number of stations are adding HLS streams. Sometimes these are higher quality than the standard MP3 or AAC versions. So, with that in mind are there any standalone devices like the Squeezebox Touch that play HLS/MPEG-DASH or similar streams natively? I know that the SBT can play the BBC streams using LMS on a Raspberry Pi but it's an extra layer of complexity and it would be simpler and much more convenient to have an HLS-capable device out-of-the-box. AFAIK there's no easy way (or even any way) to play non-BBC HLS streams on the SBT. Anything out there yet? Re: [slim] TIDAL/MQA is 2016
I guess the real question is, will there be an upgrade to the LMS, Tidal app, Touch or any other Squeezebox to support this file format in its native form for playback? I have an account and thinking about going with the HiFi package, but it would be a waste if I can't use it with my squeezebox system. 1st Touch in main HT rig wirelessly connected 2nd Touch Wirelessly connected (Master Bedroom) 3rd Touch Wirelessly connected (bedroom) 4th Touch wirelessly connected (bedroom) 5th Touch 2 Wirelessly connected (livingroom) 6th Touch 4 Wirelessly connected (downstairs bedroom) Server (In garage) running on Duo Core P4 3.0 GHz 4 gig ram Windows 7 64 bit 350 Xternal gigHD 1TB backup Verizon Fios wireless router w/HG antana Recoveryone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9205 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104878 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Squeezebox Classic keeps rebooting mid-song
Maybe trying a 'xilinx reset' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Special_IR_Keys_on_Reboot_for_Factory_Reset_and_Last_FW) wouldn't hurt? It solved some erratic behaviour I've had with my players before.
