What bug? And how did you fix it?

Re: [slim] Replaygain vs EBU R128

2018-04-04 Thread Wirrunna

Interesting thread. First I have heard of EBU R128. A quick google
brings up the details, so I thought I would compare calculated Replay
Gain (RPG) from some music ripped in 2009 with dbPoweramp 13.2
(presumably using Peak algorithm) and RPG re calculated using dbPoweramp
15.3 which uses the new EBU R128. I chose Beethoven's 9th Symphony,
Atlanta Symphony.
There is quite a difference in the track RPG while only a small
difference in the album RPG.

As I don't know when dbPoweramp changed to EBU R128 replay gain I have
chosen to re-calculate RPG for my whole library, and for DrMatt I use
BulkFileChanger to manipulate the file Modified Time to preserve the New
Music order.

I just released the latest version of LMS for the sonicTransporter and
rendu series music players. This has resolved the problem.

?

My "real" library is stored in many boxes with a printed label on it.
sorting my "real" library is a bigger mess than adding some tags to the
ripped files.
Most ( >75% of my "real" library) is on vinyl even that wasnt a big
issue it was fun because i knew the benefefits of that work.

Back to Topic:

What is the meaning of long term?
I just walked with my kid and my parents Dogs around my parents town and
we found some boxes full with VHS Tapes at a corner on the street.

When i was that old as my kid is now everyone had these vhs Tapes -
today i had to explain my little daughter what she just saw in the
rubbish...

Re: [slim] What are your long-term SqueezeBox solutions?

2018-04-04 Thread drmatt

I don't think so. Straightforward though I agree it is the sheer
overwhelming quantity of stuff on every screen is what puts people off
these things. Even if you don't have to change anything at all,
presenting that many choices scares the living bejeezus out of anyone
who isn't techie.

Just to add your music folders is a mission without an awareness of
where *not* to click and let's face it even to get there you have to be
in the small minority of people who actually want to run a home server.
Most don't.

LMS is awesome, but in a world of dumbed down material design it
presents approximately 1000 times as many choices as a novice needs to
play their music.

I don't think it's either the install or use of SB, they're pretty
straight forward. The big issue is the ripping and meticulous tagging of
your music that's required. The proper tagging of your music can make or
break the ease of use of SB.
