Don't forget the obvious - a bad physical ethernet connection.
Have you tried different Ethernet cables ?
Have you visually checked the Ethernet socket of the SB player thta al
the 8 pins in the socket are still present & straight.
Can you change the device at the other end of the cable - if
Following an update to the firmware on my netgear router and extender my
players and boom no longer connect to the server although the radio
does. Everything is connected vis homeplugs. if I connect to the router

If you're able to open the web interface to the server it's telling you
that the server is at least running, a quick test you can do when the
player is unable to connect.
