Re: [slim] UE Megablast 3
I just read a review of UE's latest MegaBoom 3 and MegaBlast 3. Apparently the latter comes with WIFI support now, mainly to work with Alexa. Although this does not interest me at all and I would rather go for a device without Alexa than with I just wondered whether the WIFI support as such might not be a place where support for our beloved Squeezeserver could open up? I don't think MegaBlast is at 3 yet? The one unit I knew (first generation) is unlikely to be able to run custom code of the size of squeezelite. It's rather limited in terms of memory and cpu cycles. It's not just another ARM based Linux box. Being able to run squeezelite on it is something I hoped for (and mentioned in dev discussions), too :-(. -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] UE Megablast 3
Hi all, I just read a review of UE's latest MegaBoom 3 and MegaBlast 3. Apparently the latter comes with WIFI support now, mainly to work with Alexa. Although this does not interest me at all and I would rather go for a device without Alexa than with I just wondered whether the WIFI support as such might not be a place where support for our beloved Squeezeserver could open up? I don't necessarily need a display like on the amazing Squeezebox Boom but if one could somehow convince Squeezeserver to stream to the MegaBoom 3 that alone would be a reason to buy it. What do you think and most of all what do the people who know more about the software side of this think about the doability? There are other discussions on this board to couple Squeezeserver with Alexa devices so maybe a door has opend up here? Would be great if we could pry it open. https://www.ultimateears.com/pt-br/wireless-speakers/megablast.html#specifications Cheers, Merc 3 * Boom, 1 * Radio, 1 * Touch, 1 SB Classic, 2 SB Duet, Server and music on Synology DS718+ Mercenary's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=48563 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110193 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] No More BBC Streaming Radio?
BBC MP3 URLs should still work for thos who use mysqueezebox.com They still work OK for my through BBC app on my LMS (whic is fed from mysqueezebox.com) I think you had a network glitch and it will be ok after caches expire. If you have a local LMS - the BBCiPlayer plugin has a fuller choice of ways to play. IIRC The forum search basically ignores most three letter search terms. Use google and "site:forums.slimdevices.com " and your search term for a better search. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110191 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] No More BBC Streaming Radio?
As of maybe 3 days ago, I stopped being able to receive BBC World Service and Radio 4 on my Squeezebox Boom. There were two ways to initially tune them in, one through the BBC App for Squeezebox, and also just by Squeezebox's search function. I had them on presets for years. Now, nothing. I'm assuming BBC has stopped publishing those stream URLs. Is there anyway to tune them in? A weird thin on this forum, too, is that a search of "BBC" yields nothing. Re: [slim] Bluesound Node 2 vs SBT
Thanks for that. I've heard a lot about ROON, but I've never seen it in action. You may have just motivated me to actually download the software and give it a try. Are you able to > please tell me some test values for that component? - I did not replace the thru-hole capacitors - You can remove the capacitors using this method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8N9O3a9jiM - I've used that everytime and the tracks on the SB3 motherboard are strong enough. Just maintain the top of the capacitor while you twist it to not rock it - I use 63/37paste and a fine tip for my solder iron, hot (300C) - Put a bit of solder paste on each pad, maintain gently the capacitor with one finger on the top and solder one pad - the other pade is easy to solder and you can potentially use flux to redo/improve the first pad - when you're done with all of them, clean the flux with 99% alcool I'll try to open one of my SB and measure the Q2 (unless Jo has some advice here) LMS 7.7, 7.8 and 7.9 - 5xRadio, 3xBoom, 4xDuet, 1xTouch, 1 SB2. OK I just tried album playback on Squeezelite-X and it has the same problem, so it's not specific to random mixes. itm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17437 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110177 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Squeezebox 3 common faults over time?
Well, philippe, I think you have inspired me to re-cap board. Thanks so much for the part numbers! It would've taken me a long time to get all the part numbers, and I might have made errors. I went through your list and noticed that you didn't mention the 2 through-hole caps. Do you replace those as well? I think I will go ahead and replace those while I have everything apart. I have never done any SMT soldering before, but these are pretty large components, so I believe I can do it. I have a good solder station. It will take me longer than an hour though. You must be very proficient. Do you think I will be OK to use 63/37 leaded solder, or do I need to use lead-free? I'm still a little concerned about the Q2 transistor. Are you able to please tell me some test values for that component? beels's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10980 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103213 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Bluesound Node 2 vs SBT
One short comment: The Bluesound Node 2 and the other Bluesound devices are perfect endpoints for ROON.
