Ive been building a radio station and have now got to the point that it needs some stress testing. Youll find full details at https://jukeradio.double6.net There are mp3, AAC and FLAC stream variants all with metadata and youll find the relevant URLs on the site We can currently accommodate a maximum of 100 overall listeners across the three stream variants This is a no Ads station with a distinct nod to Radio Paradise but our genre range is a little wider and we include some classic British humour from time to time. Note. There remains a minor technical issue with audio quality whereby there are random but infrequent milliseconds of interference but this does not really impinge on our test requirements too much - for those that hear it and wonder what it is - the very heavyweight physical hardware is running a number of VMs one of which has an occasional process that grabs CPU and affects the Windows VM thats running the encoder part of the station. We intend to replace the Encoding VM with a physical device shortly. Please could people tune in to stress test the server - it should easily handle 100 connections even on FLAC Currently playing a continuous mix of Rock, Jazz and Soul https://jukeradio.double6.net Thanks Juke Radio d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115087 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Squeezebox Classic V3 dead?
df77 wrote: > I would suggest to first check if the power supply still provides > sufficient power Failing power supplies is perhaps one of the most common causes of "dead" Squeezeboxes, and it's definitely the right place to start, but there is a little caveat when it comes to testing. If you decide to test the power supply by measuring voltage, please note that it must be connected to the Squeezebox. Measuring without anything connected could give a perfectly good level, but once it has to drive the Squeezebox it may buckle. alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115078 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] I think my SliMP3 just died
Hi there, I just hooked up my SliMP3 to a lab power supply and stepped down the voltage from 5V. Guess what, below ~4.6V audio drops out but otherwise the device works (receives IR commands, display working properly, shows playing progress, etc.). So it seems the DAC is the first to quit when the input voltage gets too low whereas the rest of the device keeps working. Stepping the voltage back up leads to heavy distortions first until it recovers at ~4.65V. And it takes just 0.45A at this voltage so its power consumption is only a bit more than 2.1 Watts which I find pretty amazing. It is typical for switching power supplies that they fail to keep up the specified voltage sooner or later, depending on the load. Mostly this is due to dying filter capacitors in the secondary stage of the power supply. This does not happen all at once but is a slow but steady process so the effective voltage delivered will ramp down very slowly over time. Yours might just be in a state where the voltage is sufficient for everything except the DAC. So the PSU - once again - would by my prime suspect here. They are dirt cheap (unless you want something really well-made) so I would recommend to replace it. It's very likely this brings your SliMP3 back to full glory. Cheers, Joe PN me if your Boom / Classic / Transporter display has issues! ok thanks, It should work is what I understand. I will mess around a bit to get it solved. I have 2.4 and 5 Hz wifi configured as well as a DEVOLO powerline to some cabinet in the garden, but as far as I know The SB radio and my phone are on the same network. I will look for the "local announcements" settings on LMS and "only show local players" Thanks all. johan d's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=48838 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115081 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox Classic V3 dead?
There is a long discussion on possible issues over here: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109775-Squeezebox-Classic-(SB3)-Repair-Consideration, that would be a good place to start. I would suggest to first check if the power supply still provides sufficient power, and the next step would be to check the internal wifi card - with a broken wifi card the device will not properly start up (if the squeezebox is able to start without the wifi card, then the wifi card has to be replaced or at least the broken card has to be removed). If its neither the power supply nor the wifi card, then most likely the capacitors have to be replaced, but that's not that easy. Good luck!
