Re: [slim] Comparisons between current (2022) streaming service integrations?
Thanks for those who talked about their experiences. Answering my own questions for Tidal based on a few days use: > - Quality/format/bitrate supported by various plans/price points. Tidal HiFi (not HiFi plus) appears to get me FLAC at CD quality, which is good enough for me. I have no opinion on MQA. > - Access to personalization features of the service (generated > "discover" playlists, etc.). Works. The generated "My Mixes" playlists for the currently selected account (see below) are available in the Squeezebox navigation. > - Access to "radio" features (curated playlists, algorithmic radio). Mostly works. Genre and mood playlists are available as top-level navigation items. Track radio available as a "more" item on per-track navigation. Artist radio doesn't seem to be available. > - Access to the whole catalog vs radio features only (Pandora vs Pandora > Premium). Full access to individual tracks and albums, can be played in any order. > - Support for multiple accounts (in the sense that Spotty allows access > to each logged in user's personalized playlists). Works differently than Spotty. Spotty combines all associated accounts into a single "app" view. In the Tidal Squeezebox app a player is associated with an account and that account is what is used for all access in the app (favorites, personalization, etc.). The navigation on player includes an item to allow you to select the account for the player, and it can be changed at any time. > - Streaming service catalog integration with LMS 8. Appears to be available, but I don't presently use this so I can't adequately compare. > - "Remote control" functionality, if applicable (Spotify Connect, Tidal > Connect, etc.). Tidal Connect is not available. I could use a phone and Spotify Connect to choose what was playing on the Squeezebox. Here I have to use the Squeezebox search, navigation, etc. Not fatal for my purposes, if slightly less convenient. > - Under active development? No idea but seems to work? Overall I'm pleased, this seems like a plausible replacement. I set up the Boom for wifi also - it always used to be wifi but it lives close to fritzbox so a few months ago I thought to get rid of yet another wifi device and make use of the fritzbox' ethernet sockets - AND... it didn't work. Same thing, won't connect to the local LMS over wifi but happy to connect to mysqueezebox.com. So, it's not the Radios; it's the LMS somehow. I think I might try installing LMS directly and seeing if that's any different to the container version - I just wish I could workout what I've done over the weekend to stuff it up (if anything). pseud's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41902 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115872 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Network Topology...
Thanks @gordonb3 - the leases expire/ renew every 10 mins for all machines, is that what you mean? I connected via cable today - the Radios found the LMS and updated to v8.0.1 r16867 pretty much immediately - I was all joy while they were connected via cable, but then when I disconnected the cable it was exactly as before: the Radios pick up the network without apparent problem, they're able to connect to mysqueezebox.com but unable to connect to LMS (blue wifi logo until connected to mysqueezebox.com). The wired connection is straight to the fritzbox - replacing the printer with each of the Radios. One thing I did notice which I thought a bit strange was that the Radios seem to have the same MAC address whether wired or wireless connection. I'm really tearing my hair out (not a lot to tear at actually). Is the `SlimServer-0.3.lua.patch` included in the 8.0.1 firmware or does it need applying again? Are there any tests that can be run on either the Radios or LMS that I haven't thought of? Here's `traceroute` for both wired and wireless to frontserver and then wirelessly to archerc7v2: Code: # traceroute frontserver traceroute to frontserver (192.168.0.20), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets 1 frontserver.lan (192.168.0.20) 1.051 ms 0.710 ms 0.848 ms # traceroute frontserver traceroute to frontserver (192.168.0.20), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets 1 * * * ... 30 * * * # traceroute archerc7v2 traceroute to archerc7v2 (192.168.0.10), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets 1 archerc7v2.lan (192.168.0.10) 12.333 ms 8.090 ms 7.971 ms # Both frontserver and archerc7v2 are connected by wire to the fritzbox so should behave the same. So, there must the something funny going on with frontserver - or at least between the Radios and frontserver as they're both reachable via other network devices. pseud's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41902 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115872 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

A static lease still must be assigned for the router to register the associated machine in its DNS and routing table. You should enforce renewal of the IP on the LMS machine, or simply wait for the lease to expire. gordonb3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71050 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115872 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
