Hi Pippin,
I have a Squeezebox Touch, iPeng for iPad, iPhone AND the playback
feature add-on. MANY THANKS INDEED!
But I'm curious; is iPeng capable of bit-perfect audio output through a
digital dock such as the Arcam drDock? (ie: does not do any additional
resampling/reprocessing and outputs'

OK, now here's the link again.
On the unaltered question, the general answer is yes, but there are
a few things you have to look at
- Depending on the dock, you might have to set the volume to 100%,
although I'm not absolutely sure about this. iPeng itself
Just done a series of 'null' tests:
SMS iPeng iPad Shairport4w Airport emulator Sony Sound Forge (all
on same PC).
Null tested against:
iTunes Sony Sound Forge.
Result? Total cancelation. Which means, iPeng outputs bit-perfect audio
through Airplay, AND Shairport4w is bit-perfect also.
Pippin,
Have you ever considered doing a PC player? Squeezeplay is fine, but it
has its limitations (doesn't do 24/96) and is beta software.
Seems to me, with your knowlage and coding experience, you could make
the ultiamate PC playback app - especially now that the hardware is no
longer
Another good audiophile alternative:
iDevice (if you don't already own one - MANY already do - a 3rd gen iPod
Tough can be had for little £££)
iPeng! + the playback add on.
One of the many digital dock / iPod USB enabled devices, or Airplay
receiver.
That'll give you all the lurvely
That depends on what you consider well pricey.
The Squeezebox Touch retailed around the £200 (UK) mark. The Onkyo can
be got for £140.
If you already own an iDevice you can add around a tenner for iPeng and
the playback, and you're there for £150 - £50 less than a Touch (was).
Plus you have

For you the Onkyo dock would be a good move as its also an Airplay

You could use the ipad as a player either docked (is ipad3 30 pin?) or
via airplay - I assume you have some kind of hifi from your comments.
Yea I use a Marantz PM6003 Amp with a pair of
I got (from Currys) : Touch - £89.90, Radio - £49.90
Both brand new boxed from the same store. VERY rare purchase; I've
scoured other stores and found nothing, but heard of at least another
two people on forums who got the same deals.
:)
Is the sound just as bad through other media players, Windows Media
Player, for example?
I highly doubt it's Squeezeplay causing the problem.

I mean, it functions great for me; it's just that I can't stand the
SqueezePlay Beta in the top bar of the app!

To add to this, I find iPeng does not 'remember' album art size on iPad
and always defaults back to x2. I prefer the smaller 'HD' size.
Any chance of a change there Pip?
:)
ReValveiT's Profile:
Cool.
Correction, for me, it always defaults back to intermediate (1x?) not
full screen. It never remembers 'HD'.
All my album art is 750x750 if that makes a difference.
ALSO, when I swipe to the right from album art, I get a list of the
tracks but if I hit a track it just glows and doesn't

No LED's please. I'm sick of tacky LED's.

I have access to CNC millers fully capable of routing aluminium

Once you have the exact final board dimensions I can sort out a proto?
Offer's there if it's wanted/needed.

ReValveiT, if you want to do the back plates that would be fine. Can you
do the labeling as well?

When you have the final spec, if you let me have a drawing I'll see what
I can do.
Labeling engraved any good for ya

UPDATE
So I dug around a bit more and found an iPad power adapter which is
rated at 5V/2A. I spliced the usb end of the iPad cable with the
squeezebox end of the original power supply. Lo and behold my beloved
Squeezebox sprang back into life :-)
Yay!
:)
I tried this...
The quality is fine, though not quite up to Touch quality. You'll find
the Radio output at 100% volume is lower than the Classic/Touch
(2.0vrms) at around 1.3vrms, around the same as the average PC
soundcard.
But yea, it sounds just fine.

Logitech Squeezebox Classic for sale. I acquired this brand new and

make sure everything was in full working order then back into the box. I

The guy I bought mine from said he had another 8 and asked if I wanted

someone else.
Oooh, can't wait for this update!

Bought it last night and left a review.
Love being able to hide menu items and really loving the overall new
look!
Brill as always!
Now, the ability to upload LMS tracks into iPengs player would be the
icing!
:)
It has Airplay, so yeah, might be worth the 40 quid!
