hard to pay $2K when I consider the other combinations I could buy with
better tech specs and still have money left over for a Duet in another

BetterDAC, your posts are quite ill-informed on the whole subject. You
should read up further on our products, and on DAC characteristics in
general, because your controversial viewpoints don't seem to be
supported
better technical specs, and costs less.
BTW, I'll happily change my handle if BetterDAC so offends you. It
wasn't meant to be silly just the first name that popped into my head

get the most out of our digital recordings and the DAC is the weak link

if they had just invested a couple more $ per DAC. But given the DAC
that SD chose, it seems to me that Slim assumes their target customers
primarily listen to lossy compressed music.

advantage of them. At least not yet. But given the criticism
that the SB3 didn't have 24x96k capability, I think a lot of users were
hoping/expecting for that with the new Duet Receiver.
