How do you get around the firmware update/brightness button issue? Is
there a sequence to code on the Harmony to send the right signal?

All the codes are there in the Harmony database, including brightness.

To be honest, have not even tried it with my Harmony. I do remember
people having issues using the Harmony with the hold down the

Personally I think it sucks and is pathetic that you cannot purchase a
replacement remote unless you live in the US or one of the locations

I believe most any JVC DVD player remote will work.
You will have to go into the SC7 menu and check off the JVC_DVD for
remote.

Again, if you don't want to go the Harmony route, borrow a friends JVC
DVD player

Could you have someone here close to you where Logitech ships get you
one and then ship it to you. It would add a bit of shipping but not
that much I would think and it would be a lot less than a harmony. A

Buttons are the same...the old one's just smaller and feels cheaper.
Purely a matter of aesthetics.

I thought I should order the backlit, agree that light in the text field
would have been very nice indeed, but you cant have everything can you
?
Anyway, I must have the old remote, I feel its a bit cheap, and it
squeeks, makes plastic noises, when you handle it, not very nice
