I completely cleared the cache and rescanned. I watched the progress as
it scanned and it stopped early and here's the error.
[11-11-05 10:21:38.6150] Audio::Scan::scan (64) Warning: Error: Unable
to read at least 421 bytes from file.
the problem is, it doesn't tell me which file it can't
I figured this out. I ran the rescan from the tray app and it logged the
offending directory. Not sure what the difference is but it looks like
it's fixed.

Whats in the scanner log or server.log ?
Permissions, is LMS allowed to read everything.
Any other pattern is everything fro a certain drive missing ?
Or behind a shortcut ?

After completely deleting and re-installing LMS on my WHS it only picks
up about 1/4 of my total tracks. I've re-scanned several times and get
the same results. Is this a known issue or is it just me?
