[slim] Touch Server vs. remote access to LMS Synch.
My daughter has a Touch which she uses from her apartment remotely back to my LMS - so che can use MIP etc. and the advanced features of LMS without the hassle of maintaining a server(although all the music is on a USB drive and it works fine with Touch Server). Now she wants a radio too. I have a couple of questions.. 1. What happens if you have 2 players synced remotely? Does LMS transmit 2 streams. Is this going to be unsynched by the time it gets over the net? 2. Can TinySB support more than just itself as a player (i.e. would it serve music to the radio - I appreciate she'd lose MIP function etc.) Apologies if the answers are obvious - I should know better. -- yeomanspc yeomanspc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=249 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92977 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

And they can be synched or not synched. My brother uses tinySB/attached USB drive to serve music to both his TOUCH and a BOOM. -- garym *Location 1:* VB Appliance 6TB (1.10) LMS 7.7.1 Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VB Appliance 3TB (2.0) LMS 7.7.1 Touch Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) LMS 7.7.1 SqueezePlay Retired: SB3, Duet Receiver Controllers: iPhone (iPeng), iPad (iPengHD SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Additional Tagging - mp3tag garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92977 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Touch Server vs. remote access to LMS Synch.
if she syncs to your server you get two streams, I don't think lms can diff between local or remote players. Fyi the devs are implementing a scheme to make one squeezebox proxy for the other to make mysqueezebox.com sync better and use les bandwith on folks isp. You can ofcourse bitrate limit her players so she don't play 24/96 WAV files over the net :) Or just bitrate limit the radio, when synced lms is bound to use the stream both players can use so it will be the mp3 one . Touch can act as server too, so the above only aplies when she's using your server. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
