One thing with the SB3 and SS combo is that things will work great for
months, and then one does something harmless like...
Change the fade-in-fade-out option for both players.
Then all things go to hell. None of the players would play music.
They'd have access to SS and would see the playlists

It would help all of us to know what versions you are using and also
what firmware the SB3 has. Also what operating system and some basic
configuration info on the computer running SS.
Also have you though of upgrading to SC7 rather than SS6.?
I personally have had no problem with SS
Standard 6.5.4 on Windows XP Professional. An utterly vanilla
configuration without any thrid part plug ins...
Never have had any issues, so this is not something I could recreate.
All I did was mess around with the fade-in-fade-out settings.
