I had the same question as Tombolino, and your explanation did the trick
for me. As nifty as the SBC is, it's easier to put together playlists
on the laptop - it's like a big, clunky but full-featured remote.

Yeah, despite having a controller, I generally just use my PC and the
web interface or the regular remote.
I really should fire up the Controller and update the software at some

ok, i think i got the wrong end of the stick from your first post.
Where is your music stored, on the laptop or iMac?
Which is running SqueezeCenter?
If you have set up a new wireless network they you will need to provide
the SB with the details to it can connect to it. I would recomend not
Right, ok. Thats actually what I thought then i first posted.
The WEP key is what was used when your wirless network was set up. The
same one you used to connect your new laptop to the wireless network.

If you have your Imac on anyway then its simple.
You have noticed that SqueezeCenter uses a web browser interface :-)
On your laptop you only have to type in http:// your imac's ip-adress
:9000
in your browser.
!Caveat ! dont forget your laptops firewall Antivures etc
Hi
My original setup is Imac upstairs+Squeezebox downstairs. Works fine
Now I have a new laptop. I want to experiment with choosing my music
from the laptop, not the squeezebox. I only want to use the squeezebox
as a a way to connect the laptop wirelessly to the stereo.
what do i need to do?
Just load up your web browser on the laptop and go to
http://IP_of_imac:9000/ and there you have it

Have had slim on Imac for a while.
Have new Mac laptop, used downstairs. I want to use it in a different

Basically, for the laptop, I want to use my slim only as a wifi router.
Itunes allows music sharing between 2 computers. So I want to
