How do you "dismiss" SqueezePlayer from the task pane?
This is not allowed by Android, as the notification is bound to the
running service.

Tap the SqueezePlayer notification and turn it off on the appearing main
screen.
No lurking.

OrangeSqueeze (and it's companion SqueezePlayer) are lurkers.

They do not close when you dismiss them from the tasks page.

Squeeze Ctrl works fine with LMS 7.9. It's the only app I've used on
Android, but I like it, as it does everything I need it to do. Pretty
straightforward interface with few surprises.

I can confirm that both apps work with LMS 7.9. I prefer OrangeSqueeze.
Squeeze Ctrl often crashes the LMS on smaller hardware like NAS. And
OrangeSqueeze looks much better. But on the other hand Squeeze
Ctrl seems to be the only app that is still under development.

They both work fine with 7.9. I prefer SqueezeCntrl, but your
experience may differ. They're cheap enough that you can get both and
decide -- a few dollars spent, a lifetime of convenience achieved.

I am considering using either Orange Squeeze or Squeeze Cntrl. My LMS is
Ver 7.9.

When I go to google play for Squeeze Cntrl, it says tested up to Ver
7.8? So I guess I can't use Squeeze Cntrl?

And on google Play for Orange Squeeze, there is no mention of LMS
version number it will work with?

Can somebody confirm what will work with LMS ver 7.9?

Re: [slim] Which Paid Controler App for Android?

2016-04-18 Thread pippin

I think nobody ever bothered to write a Smart Radio App for Android and
looking at the download figures for iPeng UE I can understand them all
too well, it's just not worth it, too few people using this.
People complain a lot about the Logitech App but for a cheap standalone
radio they are probably not prepared to pay for an App and people who
want multiroom will probably switch to the Squeezebox firmware.

Re: [slim] Which Paid Controler App for Android?

2016-04-17 Thread Antilope

I had been using the stock Logitech android app with my Android 4.4
phone and tablet.

I recently got an Android 5.1 phone and tablet and the stock Logitech
android app no longer works to control my Squeezebox radios.

I bought Orange Squeeze and it works perfectly with my Android 5.1
Lollipop phone and and tablet. In addition, it also works perfectly with
my older Android 4.4 tablet.

I mainly use Orange Squeeze along with mysqueezebox.com to play my
favorite radio stations, etc.

I wish there were decent apps for the UE smart radio (similar to Orange
Squeeze). I have two Squeezebox radios, one with the Squeezbox firmware
and one that I converted to the UE Smart Radio firmware (mainly to
access IHeartRadio). The Logitech UE Smart Radio app leaves much to be
desired.

Re: [slim] Which Paid Controler App for Android?

2016-01-01 Thread Giza2020

I've used squeeze commander for years and it works great for my needs. I
did have another look at squeeze ctrl after this thread got me
interested again. .it's a great app and could win me overt. However. The
way it handles volume of grouped players is annoying.

When a player is grouped I like the volume on my phone to be grouped too
and not have to go into the player manager settings to adjust the group
volume or worse case change individually.

SC does this brilliantly but Steve Ctrl doesn't. .you have to go to the
screen where the player grouping is shown and adjust a group volume
there. ..so close. .just needs an option to make that group volume
default if wanted.

I also don't want to group player volume at source because I like to
adjust them independently when using player controls (eg turn boom down
in kitchen but not player in the front room)

Think it's time I went to the squeeze ctrl forum :-)

Orange Squeeze has always worked well for me ... although it has been
slightly flaky on my old Xperia SP with Android 4.3 since about a year
ago when using the widget.

No issues at all on newer phones and tablets and the widget is very
handy for quick control access.

Go with Squeeze-Ctrl.

It has an amazing array of abilities including to chromecast the Now

Plus there is an optional tablet mode which is great

I own Squeeze Control, Orange Squeeze and Squeezer. Squeeze Control
gets my vote, a nice touch is the volume control buttons always to hand
on the now playing screen, or simply slide a finger up or down on the
album cover to immediately raise/lower the volume, important when used
into active speakers with no remote controlled volume in the chain. The
Squeezer app on the other hand, needs two button presses 'til you get to
actually get to see the volume control !

I own both Orange Squeeze and Squeeze Ctrl; they're both fine apps, but
I prefer Squeeze Ctrl. Besides what others have mentioned, it includes a
number of small touches that I use (e.g., Tasker integration, the
ability to mute all players when a phone call comes in). Its developer
is very responsive to feedback/requests, and seems more active currently
than the Orange Squeeze developer.

I think there are plenty of threads here giving opinion, this one is
pretty recent:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?104889-Slightly-OT-Android-client

SqueezeCommander is old and no longer supported although it's a really
good App but no support for all the new 7.9 features.

Between OrangeSqueeze and SqueezeCtrl it comes down to taste. I can't
really decide, I find myself using SqueezeCtrl more often since it's
more familiar for me coming from iOS, OrangeSqueeze is probably a little
more Android'y.

I just bought Squeeze Ctrl - very good. I've tried all the others - the
original Logitech Controller was the best (and free) but no longer works
