It depends as you mentioned it is Alpha software and really both could be an
issue. For example right now I'm using 82.4 and I have to reboot for
Firewall / Rules changes to take affect. Since I have two firewalls and

Hello discussion,
We are planning to migrate from FreeBSD 5.3 Release to PFSense. We
are looking for someone to setup the box for us for a one time fee
of USD 100.
Our current network layout consist of
- 3 "dial up" style aDSL
- 1 sDSL
20-30 networked PC connecting to FreeBSD.
This sounds like a sweet setup, the failover is one of the big reasons I am
looking at this software.
When you say "make a change", do you mean a change to the software versions
etc. or just simple things like adding rules and such?
Should I expect it to break by just using it or are you refe
If you have two firewalls and are going to do failover I'd say go for it.
If you only have one you can't make a change and see if it breaks stuff and
still recover quickly. If you have two you can simply disable CARP on the
malfunctioning firewall until its fixed. Its worked well for me and I
I am new to the list and PfSense, hope you folks don't mind a few newb
questions from me over the next few days.
The first and most important one is this...
I have 8 or 10 web/email type servers to protect at one of our locations.
I know that PfSense is an Alpha product and it would be my own

I can ftp anywhere I want on from the LAN network but I cannot for the
life of me get ftp to work on OPT 2. Any
Ah ha! Should have thought of that! It probably shows up
at the serial console.
Anyway, I am interested in the dual-wan setup. Hopefully,
I will have more time playing with it.
Thanks for the great work.

Hi Scott,
I use the OpenBrick-E, but it works on all of hardware,
as well as the Lex systems.
I use the compact flash image built for the Wrap, but have
to replace everything in the /boot/kernel with stuff from
the LiveCD to make it works. What is the difference between
the LiveCD and Wrap-based
Awesome. What hardware did you use?

Hello,
I have been playing around with pfSense last weekend, trying
to make it bootable on the compact flash on our hardware. I have
built some images that could be "dding" directly to the compact
flash.
These images assume the CF to be on the secondary master IDE,
/dev/ad2, which is the case for
